There’s a New Market in Town & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #119

This is not a sponsored post.

Have you heard there’s a fun new market in Watertown, New York? Located just two doors down from my place of employment, Solitary Consignment, on the other side of Cook’s Jewelers, right in Public Square…Downtown Julie Brown Marketplace has a little bit something for everyone with over 20 local vendors housed inside this huge open space that is filled with light, love, and laughter. They just opened their doors a few weeks ago and I finally had the opportunity to stop in last weekend. I needed to get myself another slouchy hat from Linda Gibbs Handmade and I saw this denim blue one in the window, so I bounced on in just after leaving the consignment shop.

Upon first entering, I saw my dear friend Leti of Good Life Gift Shop lounging in a big comfy recliner about to enjoy a scrumptious muffin that she had just purchased at Downtown Julie Brown Marketplace. It always gives me all the good feels when I am making my rounds around town and I see all the happy people in my friend circle! I chatted with Leti for a moment, enjoying the most welcoming aromas of all the things that make us feel at home, when Julie greeted me with the most enthusiastic hello as if I had known her forever and we were just old friends meeting once again! It was our first meeting, but I have to say, it really did feel like I have known her forever. Julie has that kind of energy that draws people in and leaves you smiling a bit bigger with an extra bounce in your step after any exchange with her.

Meet Julie Lichtenauer, co-owner (with her husband Matt) of Downtown Julie Brown Marketplace (Nope, their last name is not Brown!) But you can read their story and how they named their new business on their Facebook page or their About Us page on the website.

Julie and her husband Matt are a retired military family who decided to settle in the Watertown area after Matt’s retirement (very similar to my husband and me). And you all know how much I love to support local small businesses in my area. But it’s like a little extra benefit when I can also support military and retired military families in my community as well. It is the life I live and those bonds grow strong after all these years of military living! So I was super excited about this new marketplace in town for so many reasons and I am honored to be able to introduce this business to you. Won’t you take a look inside at all the goodies available…a list of the vendors housed inside Downtown Julie Brown Marketplace is available here.

If you are local to Watertown or just visiting the area, take some time to explore our downtown area. There are so many wonderful shops and restaurants and other small businesses. We are growing by leaps and bounds and it is so amazing to watch and be a part of its growth. If you are looking for more information (or just want my opinion!), I have shared about many of these businesses in my #SpreadTheKindness Series. This sweet little town of mine, the one that I will be calling home for a very long time (we are currently in the process of purchasing our house that we have been renting for the past two years), is my Stars Hollow and I really quite love it here. Come visit and I’ll show you around!

And now your featured favorites from last week’s link party.

Darlene of Aquamarina Style shared her post, Shop My Closet: Capri Jeans Outfit for Spring. I have been shopping my closet quite frequently lately, which is really good since I do love to shop! I love this easy Spring outfit that Darlene created by shopping her closet. The colors are so pretty on her and cropped jeans are totally the way to go once the weather gets warm.

Katie of Hello Katie Girl shared her post, Topiary Dress at Greystone Mansion. Not only is this a beautiful back drop for her blog photos, but how stinking cute is Katie’s dress? And honestly, this girl has the best accessories. Every. Single. Time.
