Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: Seasons and Silliness

This is a sponsored post. This top was provided to me for purposes of a blog post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Spring might have finally arrived in northern New York this week just in time for the arrival of the Summer Solstice. But until then, it has been really quite cool. Which is okay, I guess, since I am on a kick with fun colored tights lately. Maybe by the time Autumn rolls around, we will experience a few days of Summer like weather.

“Spring is the time of year when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade.”

Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

I know buffalo plaid seems an unlikely pattern to wear during the warmer months, but when I spotted this little twist front tank top from Rosegal, I actually thought it would be pretty adorable layered under my denim overalls for a cute summery outfit. But alas, I keep forgetting to account for my recent weight loss when ordering online and I ordered too big. Again. I need to write down my new measurements because I keep using the old ones when consulting online sizing charts. When ordering online, it is always a good idea to have your measurements handy…and always check the size guides!

And this is where I am thankful for the cooler Spring weather we are experiencing here. Because a few layers was all it took for me to make my new too big tank top work. A lacy bralette underneath and a denim shirt on top, tied at the waist to create the appearance of some shape. Plus I have these new red tights (ketchup tights) that I wanted to try out…well, because they are a little bit ridiculous and a whole lot of fun.

A short black pencil skirt and my very old kitten shoes finished off this quirky outfit that made me smile all day long. Sometimes you just need to embrace your inner weirdness and showcase it boldly. Whether it is one simple wardrobe piece or a compilation of a few unusual pieces in one outfit. Live loudly and live with purpose, but remember to always have fun no matter who may be shooting odd looks and raised eyebrows in your direction.

How about some more quotes (you know how I love quotes…especially when I have lost my inspiration for writing my own words and have fallen way behind in my workload)!

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

Anne Bradstreet
Kitten Shoes: Very Old
Red Tights: Sock Dreams

“There’s power in looking silly and not caring that you do.”

Amy Poehler

“I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect-they are much more interesting.”

Marc Jacobs
Bralette: Torrid

“Be the weird you want to see in the world.”

Wein Benlick

“There’s a whole category of people who miss out by not allowing themselves to be weird enough.”

Alain de Botton

“Nostalgia in reverse, the longing for yet another strange land, grew especially strong in spring.”

Vladimir Nabokov, Mary

“You will evolve past certain people. Let yourself.”

Mandy Hale

“I never set out to be weird. It was always other people who called me weird.”

Frank Zappa

“Blessed are the weird people-poets, misfits, writers, mystics, painters, and troubadours–for they teach us to see the world through different eyes.”

Jacob Nordby

By the way, if you are looking for a great selection of unique and trendy wardrobe pieces to better express your inner weirdness, Rosegal is offering 25% off your order by entering code RGIWD at checkout. This promotion will last until December 31, 2019, so you will be able to purchase clothing for any and all seasons!

How do you express your inner weirdness? Are you loud and bold or do you prefer to keep it quietly understated?

Keeping it bold on the edge,
