In yesterday’s post, I admitted to my lack of motivation in getting dressed these days, opting mostly for sweatpants and leggings. On the rare occasion, I will put together a dressier outfit that lasts for the duration of a photoshoot before I am promptly snuggled back up in my comfy clothes, generally braless. Seriously, I cannot stand my bras these days. I am hyper aware of their existence around my body and I can only tolerate it until about noon. At which point, a fly on the wall would bear witness to me doing that old pulling out the bra through the sleeve trick. You know, the lazy way to remove the bra without completely disrobing. It is not a pretty sight. I exhibit zero grace in the process, but the relieving sense of boob freedom is beyond compare.

Today I am going to share some movies I have watched recently as well as one of my regular comfy outfits. I did put a bra on to go for a walk and take some photos. But per my recent norm, the bra was removed as soon as I stepped back into the house, quite possibly before I even took off my shoes.

Movies I have watched over the past few weeks.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers. I have been wanting to watch this film since it was released in theaters last year but I was waiting to watch from the comfort of my couch, you know, so I could be braless. It did not disappoint. Seriously, one of the best movies I have seen recently and the message is so timely and important as so many of us are currently struggling with this homeschooling business. Mr. Rogers is the standard for which we should all strive.

I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story is an inspiring and moving documentary about puppeteer Caroll Spinney who played Big Bird on Sesame Street for 49 years. From the first episode of Sesame Street in 1969 until he was 84 years, Mr. Spinney secured his place as the most famous and most beloved character ever to appear on American television. This documentary is absolutely beautiful in introducing us to the even more beautiful man who wore a feathered puppet costume for nearly five decades in the interest of sharing love, light, and kindness with the world.

Danny Collins stars Al Pacino as an aging rock star who is compelled to change his life after he discovers a 40 year old letter written to him by John Lennon. The story is inspired by and loosely based on the life of British folk singer, Steve Tilston. In 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono had written a letter to Steve Tilston at the very beginning of his career stating, “Being rich doesn’t change your experience in the way you think,” in response to a radio interview they heard where Tilston expressed concern that fame would be the downfall of his art. The letter was never sent and was only revealed in 2005 when a collector who had obtained possession of it had contacted Tilston to verify its authenticity. The movie is bit more glamorized for Hollywood, but I have adored Al Pacino for as long as I can remember and he delivered another wonderful performance in this movie.

Onward is a Disney Pixar animated film starring Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as the voices of two elvin brothers who have discovered a magic spell that their deceased father left for them which would bring him back for one day. The brothers, who exhibit extremely opposite personality traits, go on a quest together to see their father for just more day. When the spell goes wrong at the onset and only brings back dad’s legs without a torso, they have take part of dad with them to complete the spell and be able to see their whole father before the sun sets the following day. The film is filled with humor and emotions that viewers of any age can certainly appreciate and get all the good feels.

Frozen 2, the sequel to Frozen, Disney’s blockbuster animated film from 2013 which was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen”, follows the main characters on a journey to discover the origin’s of Elsa’s magical powers and save Arendelle from complete ruin. You may all gasp at what I am about to say…I hated this movie. I absolutely loved the first movie and watched it countless times with my children and by myself. I had been wanting to see the sequel since its release, but my kids had no interest in it. So over the weekend, Jeff and I decided to watch it without them. And we were severely disappointed. We hated the music, the story, the whole damn thing.

I adore this cozy look you are wearing! I want the joggers. Thanks for sharing what you have been watching. My sons and I have been watching lots of 80’s movies – The Breakfast Club, Top Gun, Better Off Dead (hilarious!). Have a wonderful weekend and thank so much for the feature and link up. Take care my friend!

Thank you, Kathrine! I love those 80’s movies! But my kids are a bit too young to appreciate them yet…well except Top Gun, I am pretty sure we have watched that with them and they enjoyed it. I don’t think I have ever seen Better Off Dead. I will add it to my watchlist! Enjoy your weekend, my friend.

I love seeing what everyone is watching, I am always on the hunt for the next good movie or series. Even in your sweats your still stylish and cute! Nothing wrong with being comfy at home! Have a good weekend Shelbee!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Kellyann! I have a cute outfit all picked out, which is not sweats, to photograph one of these days. But Jeff is still working so we never get the chance to go take photos. Plus the weather has been incredibly crummy here. It is snowing like crazy right now. I hope you have a great weekend and find lots of awesome movies to watch!

Your toboggan matches your shoes, they look peach colored!! Did you crochet or knit the hat? Thanks so much for hosting! I’m linking up today with NO HOUSEWORK DAY, WHO WAS BEHIND THE CURTAIN? – PART 5 (PROMPT 18), and my UNLIMITED MONTHLY LINK PARTY, open every month on the 1st to the 26th.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Ha, yes they do match, Dee! I did that on purpose! They are more of pale pinkish color in real life. And I wish I could knit! But I cannot, so the hat is store bought from Target. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a pleasant weekend.

Thanks, Mireille! I definitely have been craving variety in television and movies. I watched 3 more since I typed this post. I guess I can save those reviews for another post! Have a Happy Easter, my friend.

I can relate! PJs and braless at home! We are celebrating my hubby’s Bday today, so I will wear a dress, do my hair and makeup. Love those camo joggers! They are so cute on you and I love with the converse! I’ll be wearing mine soon. Loved the Fred Rodgers movie, it brought me to tears when we saw it in the theatre. Brought back childhood memories.
    Have a Happy Easter!

Thanks so much, Jess! These joggers are so worn out from wearing them multiple times a week that I can’t even believe I shared them here! Haha. And I cried as well watching the Mr. Rogers movie. If you enjoyed that movie, you will definitely enjoy the Big Bird one, too. Sending lots of birthday wishes to Roy! And a very Happy Easter to you both.

Love those pink sneakers! And thanks for the movie recommendations. Am always looking for new ones to watch. I must admit, I have not spent much time on my own blog or visiting anyone else’s. Sold my house and have been packing to relocate, which includes moving my vintage clothing business as well. Having to do it during a pandemic has been a bit stressful to say the least. It’s nice to check in and see your cheerful smile. Brightens my day.

    Thank you
    Theresa

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Theresa, thanks so much! Moving in general is totally stressful, I can’t even imagine how stressful it is moving in the current situation. I am glad that I could offer some sort of cheer as you get through these challenging days. Wishing you so much luck and ease as you get settled.

Hey Shelbee thank you so much for featuring me and the nice things you wrote- I’m honored (and I still insist that jeans are not the easiest garment to wear!!) I love the movie picks you reviewed here…Danny Collins is one I’ve been wanting to watch! Love your blog- and again thank you xx

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Lucy! Jeans can be tricky, for sure, and some styles are better than others depending on your body type. Do let me know how you like Danny Collins if you get the chance to watch it! Have a wonderful weekend.

Shelbee, thanks for hosting and for the movie picks. I mostly wear my black yoga pants around the house these days. I’d be just as comfortable in my jeans, but I’m “saving” my jeans because I don’t want them to get worn out as it’s too hard to find a great fitting pair of jeans.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thank you, Jean! I totally get that concept of saving your jeans. I have been feeling the same way…why wear my good clothes and get them worn out from washing and stuff when literally no one is going to see me except my husband and kids. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

It was all those stupid TP hoarder panic shoppers mid March. They bought it all!
Severo found some very small sized 4-packs at the 99¢ Store (limit two). We’re good!

Our Costco has a big board near the “all ages” line listing “In Stock” “out of Stock” items, so people don’t have a futile wait.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Rena! I guess I don’t have much else going on these days except casual fashion and movies! And I am a firm believer that I should write what I know. This is what I know right now. Haha. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

All of those movies sound good. Except I can’t get excited about Onward. And I have seen Frozen 2 and liked it more than I thought I would. The backstory make the characters so much more interesting to me.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Lauren! I think the story of Frozen 2 was decent and I liked following the characters on this new journey. I think it was the music in this one that really ruined it for me. The songs seemed so dark and disturbing to me. More operatic than the Disney Broadway-esque songs from the first movie. The songs from the original were fantastic. The songs in Frozen 2 really made me uneasy and I didn’t like that! Wishing you a very blessed Easter!

Ok I’m glad to hear I’m not the only blogger living in joggers and leggings. I know I should put on jeans once in a while, but I can’t bring myself to do it. Haha! Hope you have a wonderful Easter!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thank you, Laura! I can’t bring myself to get dressed either. It’s kind of terrible. I put on a dress on Monday, wore it for about an hour, and got back into my sweats and never looked back. I do need to do a few outfit shoots, but my husband has been at work every day and I need him to take my photos. Perhaps this weekend I will get dressed and take some photos. I think Sunday is the only day that he is not going to work, so it’ll be our Easter outing…go take photos somewhere! I hope you have a lovely Easter!

Thanks so much, Sherry! I don’t wear my Converse frequently and I have about a dozen pairs of them. Perhaps this is the time to give my sneakers more time on my feet since I will be in casual mode for an indefinite period of time. I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend!

What a fun hoodie! 🙂 I’ve heard good things about the onward movie but I haven’t watched it yet! 🙂 We are tryign to continue isolation like we did pre-isolation, without a lot of screen time, but I’m sure we will cave and extend family movie night! We already watched a movie yesterday even though it was a Friday, as we wanted to mark the holiday even though we were stuck at home!

Hope that you are having a lovely Easter weekend 🙂

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Mica! We have definitely become much more relaxed with screen time. There are just too many hours in a day that need to be filled and I am running out of ideas. The weather has been terrible here lately as well, so outside time has been very limited. Wishing you a happy Easter weekend.

Well, this is the perfect sweat outfit! I love those camo sweatpants! I have been meaning to watch Tom Hanks in Beautiful Day… so will now be sure to do so! Hey, go braless if you want! This is certainly the time to do it. Comfort is key…

    xx Darlene

  • Jill

You’ve just given me some great ideas for movies to watch this weekend! I am Big Bird and Danny Collins sound great and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood has been on my list! I love this cozy-chic outfit! Your joggers are so cute!

Always looking so very cute and stylish. I actually haven’t been watching much. I did watch both documentaries you listed and I watched “Some Kind of Monster” the documentary about Metallica and “Wordplay” which is about the National Crossword Championship on DVD. Also, I have been watching stuff on my DVR like AXS TV “The Big Interview with Dan Rather”

Thanks for hosting and Happy Easter to you and your family.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Patrick! I have been watching way more stuff than normal. I am not one to sit still long enough to watch very many things! But I am incredibly thankful for technology and streaming services right now. Wishing you a lovely Easter as well.

I am totally with you on the braless front – I love the freedom, though I can’t get away with it when going out. I need to watch Danny Collins. That sounds like a great film. We are just coming to the end of the third series of Ozark – which is very good – we’ve all really enjoyed it. Happy Easter Shelbee, to you and yours. xx

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Alison! I wish I had the kind of breasts that would allow me to look good braless! We just started watching Little Fires Everywhere, a miniseries on Hulu. It is really good. Wishing you a very blessed Easter!

I’m in the same state as you are fashion-wise. I actually recently stocked up on leggings and sweats because I didn’t realize that I had a gap in that department of my wardrobe…you know, since in life BV (before virus) I wore real clothes most of the time…lol. You look cute and comfy and I love the message on your hoodie! xo

Thanks, Debbie! Real clothes? What the heck are those? Haha. I am starting to feel all sorts of depression take hold. I did get dressed yesterday and took some photos and then I immediately returned to my sweatpants. This is my new way of life and I can’t say that I hate it, but I also don’t particularly like it either.

I wish I had the guts to go bra less all of the time. I pretty much have a hate-hate relationship with bras. Yes I have some that are better than others, but they all bug me. Your outfit looks really warm and comfy. Perfect for quarantine days.

We also enjoyed a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Frozen 2. Danny Collins sounds like an interesting movie. I’m an Al Pacino fan too.

Thanks, Michelle! Oh how I wish I had perky boobs to go braless all the time! But alas, I am not so fortunate. I just watched a French film yesterday, Let the Shine In, that I thought I would love and it ended up being kind of weird and annoying! I will write another movie post soon since I seem to be watching lots of them!
