The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Tie Dye & Link Up On the Edge #253

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

The theme for July is Tie Dye, one of my favorite summer prints to wear! Thanks so much to everyone who joined us this month with your lovely bursts of tie dyed colors.

*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post! If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.

Let’s get started and hopefully you will find some colorful tie dye inspiration below.

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style

“I bought this skirt especially because Shelbee wanted to do tie dye so much! Lol. But I did buy this skirt because I had nothing tie dye, I paid with a coupon I got, so it really was for free. And I am very happy with it, it’s such a lovely skirt! I am wearing more maxi skirts this year than ever. I guess it has something to do with my legs getting uglier!”

Nancy

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

“I never had much tie dye until last year, LOL!! But these Walking Cradles sneakers have been such a go to for my feet because they go with so many of my colorful outfits!!”

“It started life as a skirt/beach coverup that cost $15. The elasticized smocking has died and I hardly ever wear skirts now. BUT, I think it will become a good pinafore – once I tunnel some new elastic through the top edge. Onto Mending Atoll (an annex of Mending Mountain) it goes. Good Buy!”

“Just bought this cute maxi skirt at a consignment store after the 4th (yep fail on my no spend July) but couldn’t pass it up for 4.99! Have lots of ideas to style it!!”

Rena of Fine Whatever

“I adore tie-dye although I prefer the more monochromatic motifs like the one in this photo as opposed to multi-colored ones. This skirt was a recent thrift store find which I’d initially hesitated to purchase because I feared that it might be too long. My gut said yes and I’m glad that I listened. The shades of green fit nicely into my wardrobe and I can see myself wearing this skirt with boots in the Fall as well as with sandals as I did recently. Now that’s a good buy.”

“I purchased this dress on a whim last summer and I just love it. It was such a Good Buy. It can be dressed up or down and it is so comfortable. I just love the colors too.”

“These tie dye pants are sooo soft, stretchy and are probably my favorite pants! I have like 5 of them in different prints. They were only $13 on Amazon, when I got them, so I’d say they’re nicely priced! Although, some styles go up to $25 (which, I think, still isn’t bad!)”

And me!

Shelbee on the Edge in tie dye pants

“I recently bought these adorable tie dye pants at Rainbow Zen, a local hippie store in my mall. They are 100% cotton and feel like jammy pants. They are so comfortable that I bought 4 similar pairs as well. You can see one pair styled here and another here. This is the first time I am sharing this particular pair on the blog. They are absolutely a Good Buy!

Be sure to head on over to Nancy’s post to find some more Tie Dye inspiration.

Up Next…Stripes!

The theme for August’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book will be Stripes. Won’t you join us next month with some of your favorite (or least favorite) Striped wardrobe pieces. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of August to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight!

Stripes are a timeless classic and I don’t even know how we have never featured stripes yet in this series. So won’t you all join us for a giant stripe-fest!

*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.

Kathrine of Kathrine Eldridge Wardrobe Specialist shared her post, Not Your Ordinary Tank and Jeans Look. Indeed, there is absolutely nothing ordinary about this beautifully vibrant tank top paired with light washed denim for a very cool and very happy summertime look.

Fashion Favorite

Nicole of High Latitude Style shared her post, How to Upcycle Men Silk Shirts into a Maxidress. The final result of this upcycle project is so brilliant! I would absolutely love a dress like this in my closet. Now I just need to get myself a sewing machine and some sewing skills! But seriously, do hop over and check out Nicole’s upcycle process. I also liked the colors of the dress before it was dyed. But these shades of teal are so, so good, too!

Non-Fashion Favorite

Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag shared her post, Friday Favorites July 9, where she showcases her new tee shirt quilt from Project Repat. I have always loved the idea of creating a quilt from sentimental tee shirts or other clothing. This once is very reasonably priced if you have ever considered the same!

You received so many great submissions! And love the colors of your tie dye pants and how you styled them! It looks like such a fun and comfy outfit! I sadly don’t have any tie dye clothing to wear other than my daughter’s t-shirt that I shared an outfit with before (that is if she hasn’t donated it LOL) but tie dye is so perfect for summer!

Hope you’re having a good weekend! Busy over here with some home repairs while my husband is no vacation.

Since I was only a little tike in the 70s I didn’t wear tie dye! hehe… and my parents weren’t hippies. BUT tie dye has won me over a bit as I have 2 dresses now with this print and wore one I just bought to do a pro beach photoshoot with the whole family. Im posting the dress next week. Love those pants and nancy’s skirt, so many good looks here. I think I like it more because not everything looks like a Grateful Dead t-shirt! 🙂

I’m loving all these tie dyed pieces and how all you lovely ladies wore them so well!
This is a cool post idea! I wish I would have joined in, I am still kind of trying to figure out blogging 😄
My submission would have been the blue tie dyed pants you saw on this post https://coolesse.wordpress.com/2021/07/10/cute-colorful-styles/
They are sooo soft, stretchy and are probably my favorite pants! I have like 5 of them in different prints, but you know how I feel because you also stocked up on your good buy 😂 They were only $13 on Amazon, when I got them, so I’d say they’re nicely priced! Although, some styles go up to $25 (which, I think, still isn’t bad!)

It is such a cute shop! I am in PA, so unfortunately I can’t get a pair of those pants, but they have tons of other cool things available to ship that I might get. Reminds me a bit of Habitat.
Thank you so much for adding my pants, I’ll try to get a better photo of them to add as well. This is an awesome community, so glad to know I can get a few pointers from some seasoned bloggers. I look forward to more posts 🙂

  • Mica

I love tie dye – I have a few tie dye pieces and they work well! It’s definitey a good buy I think! I like your pants!

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope you are having a nice weekend 🙂 Going to be a busy one for us with two kids birthday parties!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Mica! I am all about comfort and cute things this summer and tie dye seems to be the perfect thing! There are so many cute comfy dresses and pants and tops out there in fun tie dye patterns and colors. We are looking at a very rainy weekend so not much going on here, but next weekend we will be heading to Niagara Falls to see the falls as well as Jurassic Quest. I hope the weather is nicer next weekend! Enjoy all your birthday party fun, my friend.
