The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Monochrome & Link Up On the Edge #228

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

This month’s theme is Monochrome which doesn’t exactly lend itself to the whole good buy versus bad buy stuff but that’s okay because we are all about having fun with personal style and much less about following silly self-imposed rules! So let’s get right to the business of sharing the amazing monochromatic looks that were submitted this month. Thanks so much to all the wonderful people who have joined us to make this a fun little fashion look book of sorts.

*Remember if you do not see your photo in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post! If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style

“This is a outfit from five years ago. I loved this shade of green so much. The dress was such a easy one. I still have that jacket and it is still one of my favorites. A green denim jacket but such a good color. Definitely a Good Buy!”

Ellie of Ellibelle’s Corner

“I found these gray AG skinny jeans in a girls size 16 in the Gordmans’ clearance section. Originally meant for my daughter, I ended up with them because they didn’t work for her. While they were a bit too long on me, I decided to simply cut them off for a better fit. These jeans are so comfortable I can  spend all day in them. They were definitely a good buy! The jacket (by Lands End) I’m holding in my hand was another clearance find. Sadly it’s too wide and boxy and does nothing for me. I will be saying goodbye to it!”

“Blue is my favorite color and I wear it often; mixing my favorite blue jeans with various sweaters in shades of blue. Both the jeans and this sweater are new buys this year and I love them both!”

Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag

“My wide leg cream pants and off the shoulder sweater – great buys!”

Lesley of Jodie’s Touch of Style

“I’m sending over Lesley’s jumpsuit outfit!! She bought this one as part of a comparison between Amazon and other stores (see the post here), and has worn it many times since!! They are certainly easy to style, and create that monochromatic look!!”

“First time trying a burgundy monochrome outfit! Added the vest when outside. Love it when I create something new out of all old pieces in my closet!”

“To me, this skirt represents the epitome of a the Perfect Orange Pencil Skirt – I can’t even imagine what a better pencil skirt would look like! Maybe if it had pockets…? However, for that price and quality, I’m very happy with this Good Buy!”

Rena of Fine Whatever

“While in concept I really liked how this outfit turned out, it never made it to the blog. The intended post was to show how I had given new life to a less than stellar second-hand item. That item is/was the boots. I’d bought them on Poshmark and, in my opinion, the seller’s description had significantly downplayed their condition. Specifically, a large  scrape on the back of the right boot was a lot more noticeable in person than the pictures showed.  So I decided to try camouflage it and spruce them up with some bling (see the chains on the lower one). It was after all that work that I then noticed that the top layer of the faux leather was cracked and peeling across the top of the instep. GOOD BYE and be gone with ye! Also, the dress had been a recent purchase and I decided to return it.”

“My look features a Summery outfit based around my grey H & M dress.  I matched in grey sling back shoes and topped it off with black and white bag and necklace. Perfection.”

And me…

“I created this all blue outfit with this month’s theme in mind. And then I became obsessed with monochromatic outfits and styled a whole bunch of them recently. My blue skirt was a thrifted find and everything else has been in my closet for years. All Good Buys and they work so harmoniously together.”

Shelbee

“This is another thrifted skirt and it is one of my favorites. For this monochromatic outfit, I combined pink and red for a bit of contrast. Everything was shopped from my closet and all Good Buys.”

And now hop on over to Nancy’s post for more beautiful monochromatic styles.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day and Heart Health Month, the theme for February will be Red or Pink. Remember to include a brief description letting us know if you are featuring a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of February to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight!

Patrick of Adventures in Weseland shared his post, Good Bye Haight Ashbury T- Shirts. It feels awkward calling this a favorite post when I actually really hate what the post is saying! Jeff and I visited this shop on our honeymoon over 10 years ago and Jeff still wears the shirts he purchased there. It is so heartbreaking to see family owned businesses closing their doors after decades of success due to lockdown measures. What a shame.
