The Chase for the Perfect Panties & Link Up On the Edge #105

*This is a sponsored post. These items were provided to me for purposes of this review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Just last month, I shared with you my Great Underwear Debacle where I vented my lifelong frustrations about the women’s underwear market…”I have spent my entire life chasing the perfect panties. I think they may be quite like unicorns. And if I ever do find them, I am going to capture them all!” Well, I do think I have found them…the unicorns of panties. Keep reading…

Strangely, coincidentally, serendipitously, or by whatever other paranormal forces were in action, a few days after I published that post, I was contacted by Tommy John inviting me to try some pieces from their new women’s intimates line. Naturally, I had assumed that someone from their marketing department had read my general complaints about women’s panties, but when I inquired about such, I was informed that they had not and were just reaching out to some bloggers for collaborations. Of course, I took this odd coincidence as a sign that I should probably give their “no adjustment needed” underwear a shot. Tommy John’s tagline is, after all, “Uncomfortable underwear is the problem. Tommy John is the solution.” And that was just what I was hoping to stumble upon…a solution to my very uncomfortable underwear problem.

So I scoured through the various styles and colors of panties offered in the new women’s line and decided on the Cool Cotton Brief in Black, the Second Skin Logo Elastic Thong in Winetasting, and the Cool Cotton Stay-Tucked Camisole in Black. The camisole was sold out in my size and I was debating on adding a third style of panties to my order. But considering the fact that I had to take photographs of myself in the underwear, I kind of needed something on top! So I went for the men’s Cool Cotton Tank Stay-Tucked Undershirt.

Cool Cotton Stay-Tucked Camisole

Let me summarize this line of intimates in 4 words: My search is over.

Cool Cotton Brief

First, the Cool Cotton Brief is constructed from a moisture-wicking non-pilling breathable Pima Cotton and Spandex blend. The company swears these briefs don’t roll or bunch and they stay put throughout the day. I can attest to the truth in that statement. No adjustments needed and it is kind of like you are not even wearing underwear at all, they are that light and comfortable. This brief is available in 9 trendy colors and sizes X-Small (0-2) to X-Large (16). My only complaint is that I should have sized down. I went with the X-Large as I fall between a size 14 and a 16. I feel like they could have been a tiny bit snugger. But even being on the looser side, they did still remain perfectly put on my privates!

Second Skin Logo Elastic Thong

Next, the Second Skin Logo Elastic Thong is available in 2 colors: Black and Winetasting as well as the same sizes of X-Small to X-Large. I also went with the X-Large, but these seemed to fit a little tighter than the briefs. These are made from the same Micro Modal fabric as my Covered Perfectly Leisure Suit. They are silky smooth and super soft and I literally did not notice that thong wedged in between my butt cheeks at all! So, so comfortable that I may become a thong-girl after all!

Cool Cotton Tank Stay-Tucked Undershirt

Finally, the men’s Cool Cotton Tank Stay-Tucked Undershirt is so amazingly soft, I cannot even begin to describe it. You really just have to feel it and wear it to understand. It is avaialbe in Black or White and I think it makes quite a cute little summer tank top. My bust measures approximately 44 1/2 inches, so I ordered the X-Large (Chest 45-48”). Granted, a men’s undershirt is not designed to accommodate for a woman’s breasts, so the X-Large was pulling a little bit across my chest. I may have been better off in the XX-Large, but then the arm holes may have been too big. In any event, I am going to keep wearing this cute tank for the rest of the summer season, boob pulling or not!

Seriously, never underestimate the power of the perfect panties. Life is hard enough. We don’t need to spend our days with our underwear all twisted, rolled, bunched up, and battered. If we can’t invest in ourselves and our own comfort, what’s the point really? Have you found your perfect panties yet?  If not, check out the complete Tommy John Women’s Collection.

Maria, thanks so much! These definitely do not show a panty line! It is always intimidating to share photos of myself in my underwear, so thank you for the compliment about my photos. Have a fantastic weekend!

Aw, Linda, thank you so much! Bras are the bane of my existence! I finally found the perfect ones for me (Prima Donna) but they are ridiculously expensive. But still worth it for the quality and comfort. And for those days I want to be braless, I do love my Ruby Ribbon camis and demiettes. And now that I have found the perfect panties, I need to start a savings fund for my undergarments! Have a fantastic weekend, my friend.

I agree! I agree! I agree! I hate spending the money on underwear, too, Bettye! But I am now realizing that it is better to spend the extra money on quality and comfort. Just this morning getting dressed, I put on one of my favorite Prima Donna bras and realized that it is literally falling apart. But they are so expensive! I need to start a separate bra and panties savings fund! I hope you find your perfect panties and bra, too, my friend. Have a great weekend!

I’m glad you found some you like! I’m still in love with the ones I found from Chantelle and I think the best part is they are one size – I was always buying the wrong size. Panties aren’t so easy to shop for – the sizing gets me every time!

The sizing gets me, too, Kellyann. Every damn time. These are really great even being a little big, but I may need to order some more one size down and see how I like them. Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic weekend!

You maybe did luck out early on, Jodie! This is literally the first thong that I ever found comfortable. And I have tried a lot over the years. Thanks for stopping by…I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Did you just ask me if your thought process on a certain topic is weird? Isn’t that what we pride ourselves on, Debbie, how weird and extraordinary our minds are?! Ha. Okay, now I feel foolish…what are cheekies? Like boy shorts? I do like the look of boy shorts. I always feel super cute when wearing them, but they tend to give me major wedgies for some reason! Unless cheekies are something else…hold on…I’m going to go look it up…Oh, I found this…A cheeky panty is “similar to a bikini with a more exposed back…the cheeky thong covers a little bit of your cheeks, but isn’t a full-on bikini fit. These are perfect to wear with jeans, because you won’t get a strong panty line and you have a little more coverage on your lady parts from bulky jean seams.” Hmmm….I am intrigued. These were not on that list of 26 different styles of women’s underwear that I found. I may have to give this style a try, too! Like a cross between a bikini and a thong. Fun! Thanks for sharing, my friend! Have a great weekend.

Girl, you are brave! Thanks for sharing the review on this brand, as comfortable undies that wear well are difficult to find. I will definitely check them out.

Thank you very much for the feature this week! Can you believe that shirt had been hanging in my closet for 3 years with the tags still intact?!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Oh my goodness, Jennie, thanks so much! It is always so intimidating to post pictures of myself in my underwear! But I did it and now I feel super empowered by it! I really cannot get over how incredibly soft and comfortable these underwear are. Totally worth the money, in my opinion. As most quality undergarments tend to be. And no, I can’t believe you have had that adorable blouse for 3 years and only just now wore it! It is so pretty and fun! Have a great weekend, my friend.

Ugh, I have such undie problems! I will have to check these out. Whenever I find “the pair” (like once a decade) it always seems like they’re discontinued or something the next week. To the point that if I like a pair my husband is now frantic about getting me online and getting every possible pair in stock. So funny how even the most basic of items can give us such woe. Complicated more in that I don’t like thongs and don’t like briefs. Maybe their cheeky would be a good match? Usually go with a fuller (not string) bikini style. Happy weekend!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

I hear you, Betsy! I have had the same experience as you. I find ones I like then when it’s time to replace them, I can no longer find them. I really love the fabric and style of Tommy John. I highly recommend giving them a try and see what you think! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your panty woes with me! Have a fantastic weekend.

I have mad respect for you confidently modeling those panties! They sound fabulous! And the card cracks me up, especially the part about saving you so many adjustments a year! I will have to give them a shot!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Laura, thank you so much! It is really intimidating to post photos in my underwear, but it is so empowering, too! But you know, in blogging, you have to walk that fine line between showing this type of product and keeping it classy and family friendly! I highly recommend these panties. They are unbelievably soft and comfortable. If you do try them, I would love to hear your experience.

First of all, you look beautiful! My body shape is similar to yours, and it’s great to see someone brave enough to show how these underwear actually fit on a real body. My question is, no wedgies with these at all? Because that is my biggest problem! Even with some boy shorts! I will say, for a full coverage fit, the Ellen (deGeneres) underwear are comfy and don’t ride up, but again – expensive! Anyway, thanks!!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Andrea, thank you so much for this wonderful comment! It definitely takes a little bit of courage to share photos of myself in my underwear! But I feel so empowered now that I have done it. And I am super glad that it was helpful for you having a similar body shape as mine. Only a small percentage of the female population is built like “underwear models” yet the majority of the female population buy and wear underwear. Weird how that works, huh? And, nope, no wedgies at all. Totally stayed put all day long! Boy shorts usually give me wedgies, too, so you are not alone on that. I will have to check out these Ellen underwear, too. She is always happy, smiling and laughing, so I imagine she must be wearing comfortable panties!

Cheryl, I highly recommend these for that no adjustment underwear that they promise! They really did stay put all day with no adjustments needed. And they are seamless and so comfortable. If you do decide to try them out, I would love to hear what you think. And I am cracking up at the idea of my butt looking fantastic! I literally have the flattest butt ever. We took some photos in the thong of my back and my husband and were in fits of laughter at how ridiculous my butt looked! I just shared the photos that had the flattering angles that make my butt appear “appear” fantastic. I can assure you, in reality, it is not! But I will graciously accept the compliment and end with a humble thank you!

They look super soft and comfortable! I’m still looking for the perfect pants to replace my favourite ones that I’ve had for years…when they fall to pieces I’ll be going commando if I don’t find any! I do wear thongs under tight clothes and trousers but I can only wear pants when I’m at home when it’s all about comfort!

Emma, they are so good! I hear you…when my favorite ones fall to pieces, I can never find the same ones again. And I agree that different styles work for different purposes. I may be going for thongs more often now because these were so comfortable!

I always face the same problems as other commentators already explained. I am so glad your search is over!!! Sometimes paying the extra €/$ does worth it!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Sheela! I do have a few sets from Adore Me. I really like the pretty styles they have but none of the bras seem to give me the support I need, so I reserve those “for the bedroom”! I admire a woman who goes without the troubling underthings and can publicly admit it! You rock!

Undies can be such a PITA at times so finding the ones that work is an absolute must! These ones you featured on your blog look like they are comfortable and barely there meaning it moves with you and doesn’t work against you. I have had my fair share of “miserable” undies and it can be very frustrating. I hope your Friday went well. Wishing you a wonderful weekend Shelbee!

Maureen, thank you for sharing your underwear frustrations with me! It is nice to know that I am not alone in this lifelong struggle…I am so glad I opened the discussion about underwear! Miserable undies are the worst and can completely ruin the day! I am so glad that I have found the perfect ones that I don’t even notice. Have a fantastic weekend, my friend.
