For this month’s Your Own Twist theme, Monica and I are taking our Summer wardrobe pieces into the Fall. Transitioning our clothing between seasons always presents a challenge as we gear up for the change in weather. Retailers and the fashion industry are already firmly planted in Fall styles. Those of us who follow trends suddenly find ourselves drawn to all the pretty autumn things. But it is still a bit too warm for boots and sweaters.

So how do you get the Fall feels without sweating to death? Well, that’s what Monica and I are showing you this month with our own twists on transitioning our clothing from Summer to Fall. Monica’s mom, Ewa of 60 Plus Experience, is joining us once again as our co-host this month, bringing her own twist to the theme as well.

One of my favorite styling tricks for transitioning from Summer to Fall (and from Winter to Spring) is adding tights under my shorts. (Jodie, you know how this trick turns our shorts into 4 season pieces.) I recently added a bunch of different colored tights from Sock Dreams to my wardrobe so I can up my leg game this Fall and Winter. And I have become a fan of tights with clogs for a super fun 70’s inspired vibe.

Sticking with the 70’s vibe, I absolutely fell in love with this patchwork print tank top from Torrid. The colors are not only reminiscent of 1970’s kitchen decor, but they also scream Fall. Enter some ivory open toe clogs from JustFab and it’s a match made in flashback heaven.

I originally had pictured my denim mini skirt with this outfit, but I seem to have misplaced it in my closet room, which is a mess again! I hope I find it before Fall arrives because it is the perfect autumn wardrobe staple. Without my denim skirt, I had to be creative and so opted for shorts. Denim shorts seemed a bit boring and the olive ones coordinated just right.

I completed my vintage inspired outfit with my favorite slouchy hat, a lightweight suede jacket in tan, and fringed backpack in dark brown. I felt very Three’s Company in this outfit and totally ready to celebrate the coming of Fall, my very favorite season of the year!

I love that all three of us chose shades of rusts and oranges for a transition into the new season. That was completely unplanned but totally looks like orange was our theme!
