Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Power Outfits & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #212

It is time again for you to send your submissions for the next edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. March 8 is International Women’s Day and the campaign theme for 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge. The 2021 campaign is focused on ways that we can challenge one another as well as ourselves in an effort to create a more inclusive existence for all human beings around the world.

In the words of the IWD Campaign, “A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.”

To celebrate and honor this mission, Nancy and I have chosen Power Outfits as the Good Buy/Good-Bye Book theme for March. What outfits or wardrobe pieces really make you feel powerful, important, brave, beautiful, smart, fierce, and ready to take on a challenge? Send us those photos with a brief description of how and why the outfit empowers you. Please feel free to submit two different photos for features on both of our blogs.

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for March by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite Power Outfits.

Now let’s have a look at some of the outfits that have made me feel powerful and brave over the years. For me, suits and blazers have sort of a built in power factor, don’t they? While I don’t have many suits except the few that I have recently thrifted and shared here, I do have a ton of blazers and they always make me feel put together and ready to conquer the challenges of the day.

I have lots of other wardrobe pieces and outfits that make me feel powerful and badass like specific graphic tees with empowering messages or sky high stiletto heels. Tall boots and stockings also make me feel like I can take on all the challenges of the world and win. A good hip hugging pencil skirt or bodycon dress and fish net stockings also contain some power within them.

Which clothing makes you feel powerful? Be sure to send it to us to be featured this month. Just email the photos of your Power Outfits with a brief description to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by March 10. You are welcome to submit more than one photo if you would like features on both of our blogs.

Ella of Little Bit of Life shared her post, February 2021 Book Review. I had so much fun reading Ella’s passionate and honest thoughts on each book she read in February. Not only am I impressed with how much she reads in a month, but I am so drawn to the intense joy that she gets from reading. It is very reminiscent of the way I devoured books during my teenage years. She has lots of really great titles on this list, too. So if you are looking for some reading recommendations, definitely go check it out!

Karen of Lady in Violet shared her post, Green Alpine Sweater, and I am in an actual swoon over it! I love the color and the cute alpine pattern as well as the cozy chunky knit and oversized sleeves. I am definitely going to keep an eye on this sweater to see if it goes on sale soon. I really want one!

Non-Fashion Favorite

Pam of A New Lens shared her post, Who, But God? Pam addresses an important matter in the world of good vs. evil as it comes at us through all of our media outlets and technology. It is so important to maintain a perspective of goodness and focus on the benefits of technology so we don’t get too caught up in all the negativity that flies all around us because of technology. This is a really inspirational read as well as a great reminder to maintain a proper perspective.
