In 2017, Danish partners Pascar Sivam and Vasilij Brandt launched Nordgreen with the mission of building a brand that is committed to sustainable practices while also creating a beautiful and functional line of designer timepieces. The name itself represents their dedication to designing classic and minimalist watches that stay true to a Nordic aesthetic while utilizing green methods in support of the environment.

Peoples from the Nordic region feel a very strong connection to nature and an appreciation for its ability to thrive through the challenges of time and humanity’s systematic destruction of our natural world. Based on this idea, Nordgreen’s partners feel an inherent responsibility to social and environmental causes that serve to improve the state of our world for every being on this planet. Sustainability is a way of life for Nordic folks and should become a way of life for the rest of the world if we hope to save our planet for future generations.

As part of their initiative, Nordgreen has also launched a Giving Back Program which is designed to support health-related, educational, and environmental issues on a global scale. They are currently partnered with three different programs to support a healthy and happier human race…Water for Good which helps to provide clean water for people in the Central African Republic, Pratham UK which supports education for children in India, and Cool Earth which is dedicated to preserving the rain forests in Latin America.

With a simple purpose, aesthetic appeal, and a deep-rooted responsibility to give back, I felt like Nordgreen was perfectly aligned with my very own feelings of obligation to making this world a better place. So when they reached out to me to review one of their stunning timepieces, I did not hesitate to agree.

Pioneer Watch: c/o Nordgreen

However, I have about a dozen different watches that I rarely wear these days with so much time spent at home. But my husband has been hinting to me for a while now that he needs a new watch and would like a dressier one for his post-Army retirement days. So this was a wonderful opportunity to get him the perfect retirement gift.

By the way, Jeff will be officially retired from the military on August 1, 2021, after serving in active duty for 22 years. However, we will be celebrating this amazing accomplishment on February 26 when he gets to walk that long awaited stroll across a stage as he transitions from soldier to civilian. And I could not be a prouder wife. He has served his country well for more than half of his life and he deserves all the accolades that one can possibly get. Including a gorgeous new watch!

Not only am I proud of his military service, but I am also totally impressed with his ability to work the camera from the other side! Jeff was the best sport ever when I told him he could only have his new watch if he modeled it for this blog post. He promptly agreed to that stipulation and was a total pro with his poses. He had me laughing so hard during this shoot! It really was so much fun to switch roles and flip the camera on him.

From the wonderful collection of military watches, Jeff chose the Pioneer Watch with a navy dial and gunmetal mesh band. This is the exact same watch that I would have chosen for him. Blue is favorite color so I knew that he would like a blue face on his new timepiece. He is also very minimalist in his wardrobe choices, so a simple sleek watch that can be worn dressy or casual was the ideal choice for him. It really is a stunning watch.

Award winning designer Jakob Wagner created these elegant timepieces with the Nordic mindset that contemplation comes first and will lead to artistic inspiration. He will first find the meaning he wishes to convey through his design and then looks to the harmony of nature to find his design vision.

Sustainability is present in every step of the Nordgreen watch making process from design to manufacturing to packaging and shipping. To offset carbon emissions generated by various aspects of running a business, Nordgreen has committed to planting thousands of trees for a healthier environment. They strictly adhere to the highest standards of Danish labor practices while also ensuring that any overseas production facilities adhere to the same practices. All of the packaging used for shipment of their products is crafted from sustainable materials as well.

When the watch arrived, I was thoroughly impressed with the the beautiful minimalist and sustainable packaging used. They included a logo face mask and a tote bag made from recycled material which are both practical and useful little extras. Nordgreen is certainly a company that I can and will gladly support.
