Inspired by This Blonde’s Shopping Bag: Plaid Blazer & White Booties

This is not a sponsored post.

First, I have to tell you that I adore Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag. I don’t know how long ago it was that she and I found each other in the grand wilderness of blogland, but we became fast blogger friends right from the first introduction. It is funny how you can never meet a person in real life but still have about a million things in common. And one thing, for sure, that Kellyann and I have in common is our love for shopping, all things fashion, and apparently plaid blazers and white booties.

When white booties really hit the trend scene last year, I was hesitant at first. I finally ordered a pair of patent leather ones from Forever 21. They are super cute but a bit snug so not very comfortable for all day wear. Then I found a pair with a tan heel (similar to Kellyann’s) and they are pretty fabulous. And then I became obsessed, adding a pair with kitten heels and then this pair from Charlotte Russe. I simply could not stop myself. If you check out Kellyann’s post, Sunday Showcase: How to Wear White Boots, she shared her journey to finding the perfect white booties for her. Then she recreated a look that she had pinned on Pinterest.

Following her lead, I am sharing a similar look featuring the same exact plaid blazer as Kellyann’s with my white booties. While my look was not authentically inspired by Kellyann’s (I had photographed this outfit exactly 4 days before Kellyann posted her plaid blazer and white booties look), but I am fascinated by the serendipitous styling of similar outfits. This seems to happen rather frequently with Kellyann and me. So it really makes sense to share Kellyann’s outfit along with mine.

My outfit is a different in that I layered a graphic tee under my blazer as opposed to a striped button down (which looks fabulous with the plaid, by the way). But as Kellyann says, “[T]hat’s what’s fun about re-creating a look – it doesn’t need to be identical. Get inspired and use what you have!”

And that is the best way to recreate an outfit that you adore on someone else. Find similar pieces in your closet and start playing around with them. The more creative you become with your style attempts, the more amazing you will feel!

Thanks so much, Kellyann, for always inspiring me whether it is with your style choices or your encouraging words. I am grateful for your friendship and so glad that our blogging paths have crossed!

Where do you find your inspiration? It could be style, cooking, decorating, motivation, or anything in life really. we all have different places where we find inspiration. And sometimes, it just comes out of nowhere and hit us smack in the face! I would love to your stories of inspiration!

And always remember to Use Your Power to Empower!

Keeping it on the edge,
