Inspired by Granola and Grace & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #65

Do you all know my friend Chrissy yet? She writes the blog Granola and Grace and she is the most down-to-earth, kind, supportive, caring, and absolutely amazing person…like ever in the whole land of blogging. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to meet Chrissy in real life yet (I will one of these days, for sure, because I will make sure that we make it happen at some point), Chrissy and I do chat via email and through our blogs and other social media frequently, helping each other in any way we can. I am honored to include her in my list of blogging besties!

*Sidenote: That cup of coffee I am holding might be the worst cup of coffee I have ever tasted in my life.  When Aimee kicked it over, I was a bit upset because it was keeping me warm. But man, that was a blessing in disguise. There aren’t too many things that can ruin a girl’s day more than a bad cup of coffee.

Not only is Chrissy just one of those truly good souls on earth, she has fantastic style that speaks to me with every outfit she shares. But for some reason, it is camouflage that always makes me think of her. And super distressed jeans. And deep olive green booties! Chrissy has these olive green skinny jeans…they are her favorite…and she wears them often on her blog, layered over tights in the winter and super sassy showing off her fabulous legs in the warmer weather. When I spotted these distressed jeans with fishnet inlay, they really did kind of scream to me, “Chrissy would love these and so should you!” Well, of course, I loved them. And when I randomly paired them with my new camo sweatshirt, I felt like I was completely tuning into Chrissy’s style channel. My olive green sock booties were a no brainer at that point.

So my outfit today was inspired by all of these outfits that Chrissy has worn. You can view them each on her blog at the links below.

Aimee and I shot these photos on Saturday when we headed out to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse in Cape Vincent, New York. It was a little cool on Saturday but the sun was shining and it was so nice to just be outside breathing in the fresh crisp air. I actually had no intention of taking photos. We just sort of ended up out there and it was so beautiful that we couldn’t really resist the opportunity. I knew at the moment that between the outfit and the stunning background that these photos would be used in a post featuring Chrissy.

With the winter hanging on forever, this was the perfect getaway on Saturday afternoon. Now I am just going to overwhelm you with photos. We had so much fun taking pictures. There were hundreds on my camera roll by the time we finished. And we laughed so much throughout the entire afternoon. Much needed laughter. Man, did it feel great!

And while I am at the business of spreading kindness, I have to share this other blog with you. I did a quick Google search today to find some inspiring quotes about water to use in conjunction with this post and I came upon a blog post from 2016 entitled 28 Water Quotes to Inspire Your True Nature. I was so inpsired by the post that I started surfing all around this blog, called Aim Happy, and I just have to say….Wow! If you are looking for every day inspiration, you must go check it out!

The water really does possess such calming properties, doesn’t it? It helps us reconnect with nature and the earth on a new level. Without even realizing how much I had been missing that connection, I found myself so rejuvenated and invigorated just walking along the cape, gazing out into the forever and the unknown, pondering life’s deepest mysteries. The true philosopher in me really began to surface again. How nice it would be if I could visit that place more frequently, but alas, life seems to get in the way all too often.

In the midst of all the beauty and all the laughter, I did manage to get Aimee on the other side of the camera, too. That doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it is such a wonderful experience!

“A lake is the landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth’s eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.” -Henry David Thoreau

“A lake carries you into recesses of feeling otherwise impenetrable.” -William Wordsworth

“Not every lake dreams to be an ocean. Blessed are the ones who are happy with whom they are.” -Mehmet Murat ildan

To get sense of the ridiculous and the fun that happens when Aimee and I go on a photo adventure, I leave you with these silly outtakes.

You can find Granola and Grace on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.

And now the featured favorites from last week’s link up.

Nistha of FashioNistha shared her post, A Must Have Dress in Every Girl’s Closet. She is talking about every girl needing a floral dress for Spring, but this shade of green is really what caught my eye. It is so brilliant and Nistha looks absolutely stunning!

“The feel of floral gets doubled in spring. After all who does not want to match the surroundings? It’s like nature is reciprocating the love in a similar manner. Everything looks bright, colorful and lively just like the floral dresses.” – Nistha

And Lisa of Beauty 101 by Lisa shared her post, Chico’s Spring LookBook 2018/How Bold Are You? Well, I have to say, Lisa is definitely bold! Not only is she rocking her 49 years in the most amazing way, but you need to hop on over and check out all of her fabulous styles!

“I will be 50 years old this year and I don’t follow any rules or guidelines when it comes to my age. Getting older is a time for us to be ourselves and express who we are with no stereotypes of how we should look. I believe we should dress for our body type and wear what makes us feel confident and beautiful no matter what age we are. I’ve even decided to let my natural gray hair grow out because I don’t feel that I need to hide behind colored hair anymore to feel truly beautiful.” -Lisa
