A Very Special Easter Celebration-Military Style

This is not a sponsored post.

I don’t often share much about our military lifestyle, mostly because it is just our lifestyle and we have grown quite used to it. But when major holidays roll around, that is when we most notice the difference between life in the military and civilian life. As you are well aware, I’m sure, military families are always on the move. Every few years, your soldier is reassigned to a new duty station, uprooting your entire family and moving to a new state where you know no one.

Sometimes, you are far too removed from your family and friends in your hometown and simply cannot travel the distance to spend holidays with them. Sometimes, it is not even all that far, but you tire of packing up your kids and leaving your home every single holiday to travel to be with your extended family. And so you find your people where you live. And this tribe becomes your family with whom you celebrate all of your special occasions and holidays.

I feel fortunate that we have only had to move our family once in 10 years and have had the opportunity to settle into our little community here in Watertown, New York. After 6 years of living here, we have created our own little network of close friends and we are so blessed to have them, particularly on holidays.

While we do not go all out for Easter, this year we decided to celebrate in a very special way. One of my very best and dearest friends, Danielle, recently got the news that she would be a grandma soon. And just this past Monday, her daughter Gabbie had her 20 week ultrasound to discover the gender of this brand new blessing. So today, on Easter Sunday, we are having dinner together and then doing a super fun Easter activity that will reveal the baby’s gender.

At the moment of my writing this, only my husband knows the gender. He has hard boiled a dozen eggs minus one. Six have been dyed blue and six have been dyed pink. The children at Easter dinner today will take turns cracking these dyed eggs on Gabbie’s head until one cracks raw egg all over the poor girl! And the color of the raw egg will reveal the gender! I will keep you posted on the outcome!

In the meantime, I felt the holiday spirit in my closet today and reached for my bunny print dress. Pairing black and white with pastel pink accessories seemed quite the perfect combination for Easter Sunday.

And with that, if you celebrate Easter, I wish you all a very blessed day spent in celebration of life, love, and Springtime! If you do not celebrate Easter, I still wish you a very blessed Sunday spent in celebration of life, love, and Springtime!

Much love to you all, my friends.

Keeping it on the edge,
