Women Igniting Women & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #46

Last week, I attended a power networking event for women in business. It was called Women Igniting Women and was created by the very inspiring Kathi Buskey of McEvoy Insurance, Ltd., a family-owned and run insurance company in Watertown, New York, offering both personal and commercial insurance.

*This is not a sponsored post, but there will be lots of business links at the end! Just my way of supporting women in business in my community.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

*Top: Victoria Beckham for Target (No longer available).

Kathi came up with the idea for this power networking event when she attended a similar event in Syracuse, New York. Seeing the need for women in business to support and empower one another, she found that networking together was a great way to meet the faces behind women-run businesses, to interact with the intelligent women in business, to develop new contacts within our community, and to help one another reach success within their own business niches.

*Belt: Chaps for Kohl’s (No longer available).

*Skirt: Old Navy Jersey Pencil Midi Skirt.

Understanding that there is enough success to go around and that the success of one woman does not take away the success of another, I wholly support Kathi’s idea of networking within our community. I also like to share great information when I come by it because it would be selfish of me to withhold!

*Clutch: Old Navy. Similar here.

This event was attended by about 20 fabulous women who are business minded and ready to knock down that old belief that women must compete with each other in order to be successful. Instead, by joining forces, we can help each other be even more successful than we ever imagined.  Together we are stronger.

*Booties: Christian Siriano for Payless.  Similar here, here, and here.

Today, as part of my #SpreadTheKindness initiative, I would like to introduce you all to the amazing women who attended this event. If any of their businesses offer something you may need, I encourage you to click on their links and see if there is a possible business relationship to be formed there. In doing so, you will be supporting some of the most driven and passionate women I have ever met right here within my own little community.

In an effort to not have the longest blog post ever, I will just provide their names and links to their specific businesses.

    • Celia, thank you! I agree with you completely…there is so much success in so many different areas that there is definitely enough to go around! We need to all support each other in becoming the best possible versions of ourselves. And then you simply cannot fail! Thank you also for your inspiration and empowerment and what you do to further this purpose.

Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful week.

  15. I love the print! Such a pretty top! I never make it to Target when they have the openings for special lines, so there are usually slim pickins when i do go. Love the belt added to this look, and inspiring post Shelbee/
    Have a wonderful week!
    jess xx

    • Jess, thanks so much for this wonderful comment. Where I live, people don’t rush out to buy up the special designer collaborations from Target, so I luckily can even wait for them to go on sale!

  16. Great outfit – and I totally agree that women are stronger together.

  17. I just love calla lilies, so of course I adore that top. The length is great and I love the added belt! That coat looks nice and warm and b/w plaid is my fave right now, so of course I love that scarf! You always find great events and people to meet, you amaze me!

    • Carrie, I totally love calla lilies, too! When Victoria Beckham put the lilies on an entire line of clothing, I nearly swooned…wanting all of it. But I figured that would be overkill, so I just got this top in that print. And I always love plaid, too…and have a ton of it in my closet. Thanks so much for your super amazing comment!

  18. Agreed—we are definitely stronger together, so thanks for hosting the linkup and bringing us all together! I love your blouse, too!

    XOXO Tina

  21. Oh wow you were one of the lucky women to snatch something from the Victoria Beckham collab ! Great shirt.

    • Thanks so much, Lorena! Actually, there were tons of pieces available in my local Target and I was able to grab a bunch on clearance, too! I think I ended up with 6 dresses, 2 tops, and a jacket. And I only paid full price for 2 of the dresses.

  22. At first glance I thought those flowers were real – Go Victoria! 😉 What a beautiful top. You look great Shelbee and I love how you supported those women in business. Always great content. Thank you for hosting!

  23. So much to reap from other women, sounds like a wonderful event Shelbee. And, I love your Victoria Beckham blouse. My good friend has the same one and it is fabulous! Thank you for the link up!

  24. We are stronger together! As always…great post!

  25. Sounds like a great event, we really are stronger together. I love your top, the simple lily print is beautiful.

  26. OOOO, love that black and white look. The cala lillies really pop and are quite beautiful against the black. Sophisticated with a feminine touch. Nice 🙂

    • Theresa, thank you so much! The calla lilies are what made me buy this shirt! Then it ended up being a little on the frumpy side…until I belted it! It was like a magical transformation of the top.

  27. Oh my goodness! That top is just gorgeous and I love how you belted it!

  28. Beautiful outfit! Love the tulip pattern on the side and the belt

  29. I love “Together we are stronger”. Networking is such a great idea, and if you do it right it will benefit a lot of people! I will spread kindness today and every day! Thank you for reminding me to spread kindness! Have a Happy Thursday!

  30. Way to rock that outfit!!

  31. It is very kind of (again kindness is something I have come to associate with you…lol nice branding job :)) to showcase all these women in business. I wish more women were like you and acknowledged the need to support each other especially when they are further ahead than you and can lend you a bit of hand to climb the latter. Thankfully I know a couple IRL that are like that and have helped me.

    • Rania, thank you so much for this comment! Wow! I am so flattered about the branding part of this. That makes me smile from ear to ear! I feel successful this morning because of you. Thank you. Thank you. And I agree completely that women in business need to support and help one another. I always feel great when I can offer someone some knowledge or expertise or whatever that they may not have otherwise attained. And if it helps them on their journey to success, then I can proudly pat myself on the back. I appreciate all of your continued support and I love that you are one of those fabulous women out there who recognizes the importance of “together we are stronger”. You rock!

  32. What a nice surprise seeing my fettuccini featured! Thanks so much and I hope you have a great week. 🙂

  33. This Victoria Beckham blouse is so chic. Too bad we don’t have a Target in Fairbanks. Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style party. Nicole of High Latitude Style
