Moms’ Night Out

This past Saturday was our monthly night out for my Moms’ Club. We pick a place (either a restaurant or someone’s house), ditch the children with their fathers (or a grandparent or babysitter if dad is deployed), and get together for some much needed girl talk unhindered by kids! This month we chose Good Fellos, a cozy little brick oven pizza place in Sackets Harbor, New York. The atmosphere was warm, the food was good, and the company was even better. We ate, we laughed, we even cried a little…and then we headed home in sleepy stupors at the oh so late hour of 9:30 p.m.! It’s definitely a mom’s life and we wear out quickly!

For me, I love the opportunity, no matter how brief or infrequent, to get a bit dressed up when I don’t have to tend to little ones for a few hours. And I really wanted to try out this new leopard print blouse! I figured a bar and eatery on a Saturday night was the perfect environment to get my edge on!

I ordered this Jennifer Lopez leopard print sleeveless twist front blouse from Kohl’s a few months ago and paired it with dark wash boot cut jeans. The blouse is a tad low cut, so I layered a black tank underneath. I accessorized with a super shiny silver bib necklace and my favorite shimmery black Stuart Weitzman ankle boots that I purchased eons ago and haven’t worn since I have had children. Since the restaurant sits right on the harbor of Lake Ontario, I needed a lightweight jacket in case the air was cool. I chose an ivory vegan leather moto jacket which I am now officially in love with!

Other options I experimented with for that extra layer of wind protection before I headed out included deep purple open front cardigan and a red and black Buffalo plaid long open front cardigan (playing with patterns again!).

The moto jacket was voted in by my friend E. and my mother-in-law. But I would love to hear your opinions in the comments! Also what is your favorite girls’ night out outfit?

Keeping it on the edge,
