Lula Love & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #18

As many of you already know, my weekly #SpreadTheKindness Link Up really is all about just that…spreading kindness. And each week I try to share something in a way that is me just spreading some kindness. After my pretty intense post from yesterday (the response was completely overwhelming, in a good way, particularly on Facebook), I actually am finding myself quite mentally exhausted today! So I am going to simply share some Lula Love with you all!

I am sure most (if not all) fashion bloggers reading this know of LulaRoe. Probably any woman reading this who has shopped for clothing in the past 12 months know the brand as well. Well, when it became a raging trend, I wanted to hate it. I really did. I resisted. I was all anti-Lula! Then back in the Fall, I had Shelbee’s Shoppe set up at a vendor show and I spotted the most fabulous print I had ever seen in the racks of the vendor next to me. That vendor was a LulaRoe Consultant by the name of Adrien Pacella and she is just fabulous. I quickly tried on the dress (it was a Carly), fell in love, and made it mine. I have shared that Carly dress on my blog twice already…here and here.

*This is not a sponsored post. All clothing items, thoughts, and opinions are my own.

After styling that dress multiple times and realizing how much I absolutely adore the fit, the high-low hem, the length, the movability and comfort of the fabric, and the print, I realized that I needed more! But at a price point higher than my average shopping threshold per item, I needed to find one with a print that screamed, “I am worth it!” No average solid color or striped Carly would do. So my hunt began. I did online searches with many consultants as well on Poshmark and other resale sites. Usually if I found a pattern that called to me, it wouldn’t be my size. So I continued searching.

Then two weeks ago, I had Shelbee’s Shoppe set up at another event.  There was a different LulaRoe Consultant set up at this event.  Her name is Hope Culbertson. Of course, I had to check out what she had available in my size. Lo and behold, I found not one, but two patterns in my favorite dress that yelled, “Buy me! I am so worth it!” I tried to decide between the two and pick just one, but this proved to be an impossible task as both dresses just kept tormenting me to hand over my debit card! And who am I to resist such pressure?

So I brought them both home and have already worn each of them. I ended up styling both in essentially the same way over loose lightweight pants with the same teal cardigan and my favorite rose gold slides.

You may be wondering how the heck I am spreading kindness with this blog post…well, I am shamelessly plugging a company that I wanted to hate while also shamelessly plugging two separate LulaRoe consultants who are working the local vendor circuit with me. Which is a hard job, by the way…if you have never done it. It is a really hard job. And all of us small business owners can certainly use all the help anyone out there wants to offer! So that’s how I am #SpreadingTheKindness. Plus these fabulous vibrant prints must make you smile, no? And making people smile is such a great way to spread kindness, too!

*Also notice my fabulous Fashion Rainbow scarf created by the amazingly talented Anne M. Bray!

So if you are in the market for some Lula Love, do stop by and check out my vendor-friends, Adrien Pacella and Hope Culbertson! And if you are in the market for some other fabulous on-trend pieces that I have personally handpicked, do stop by and check out what I have to offer in Shelbee’s Shoppe (That’s not really me spreading kindness, but I would just be a big dummy if I didn’t also shamelessly plug my own business!)

So, do tell me, have you got the Lula Bug? And what are your favorites?

And now your favorite posts from last week’s link up.

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style is always a huge favorite in my link ups as she is featured as a favorite week after week! (Just a side note: I choose the featured favorites based on how many times readers click on the links. I simply cannot choose two or three on my own. I would end up featuring everyone!) This week’s post from Jodie, The Fab Collab Brings You Pastels at 50 Plus, showcases Jodie’s lifelong love of pastels. She even shared some adorable throwback photos in this post, so do hop on over and check it out!

And Celia of Resilientista Musings shared a super helpful post, 5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before a Wardrobe Make-Over. So if you are struggling with what to wear or how to upgrade your closet, do stop by and have a read. There are some really amazing tips!

Now it is time to get linking! Have fun and make sure to keep #SpreadingTheKindness!

Spreading the kindness from the edge,

  1. I love the idea of promoting the small businesses, Shelbee!! You should promote your shop next week!! Because your customer service is second to none!
And what a fabulous surprise to see my blog featured!! Thanks so much!
And I love my LulaRoe too!

    • Aw, Jodie, thank you so much! I try to self-promote, but that is probably one of my greatest weaknesses! I am so happy that you were happy with my customer service. I am still appalled by that post office disaster! Haha. When I went to discuss it with them, they told me the labels probably fell off during transit. I said, “All 3 of them fell off, really? That seems unlikely.” But I was super kind (as I almost always am) and said that I understand mistakes happen (it was a trainee who processed my package and he simply forgot to affix the postage labels), but we need to not make excuses and just fix the issue! In any event, you received your scarf and I am so glad that you are happy with it! As always, thank you so much for all of your support! You are amazing!

  2. I love how your outfits this week are both cozy AND colorful! Nothing drab about your fashion sense, Shelbee! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  3. I love high low hem
    Line dresses and skirts.
And I don t know LulaRoe because we dont have that in the Netherlands! And I agree with Jodie on the Shelbee Shop thing! Promote it! I see it wat to less!

    • Oh yes, I should have said “American bloggers”! But you probably have seen LulaRoe on other bloggers, no? And thanks for the support as always, Nancy! I will try to get better at self-promotion. I am a work in progress! Actually I have a new kimono from my shop that I need to share on the blog!

  4. I am of the same mindset of not being pro LulaRoe, but I am pro small business owners. I do think both patterns you found in the Carly are truly striking. I enjoyed seeing the easy layers you incorporated. You look terrific!

    • Jennie, thank you so much! I really do like the easy feel of these dresses and the super fun patterns. And of course, supporting small businesses is very important to me as well!

  5. Thanks for hosting!! : )

  6. You have such wonderful fashion sense and I love the vibrant colors and pattern mixing in this brand!

  7. These are amazing prints! I have heard a lot about LulaRoe. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the link up!

    • Thanks so much, Kathrine! So far, I have only tried the Carly dress and the leggings. The leggings are fun and super comfortable, too…but I honestly can find equally cute and comfortable leggings for less expensive. But this dress is just my favorite! I am smitten with it.

  8. I loves how colorful and pretty your dresses are! Thanks for sharing and hosting love 🙂

  9. love the outfits such pretty dresses!!!! love small businesses! How awesome!

  10. All good things come to those that wait Shelbee! The dress looks fabulous on you xx

  11. I’m with you on this one Shelbee you had to buy both! We all would/do in the same situation. Cute looks, both of them. We can all change our mind on things, that’s a woman’s prerogative – right?

    • Thanks, Jacqui! When I tried them both on, the colors and prints were just so equally striking that I simply could not choose one over the other! And yes, we all reserve the right to change our minds!

  12. Always trying to give people a smile.

Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful rest of the week.

  13. Love both dresses. I like your idea, Shelbee, to wear them both over loose pants like tunics, very cool

  14. Those print are gorgeous. I particularly the colours of the multi-coloured dress. But both dresses couldn’t be more you if they tried!! You look great in them both. And go you for helping out a small business. You’re very kind, Shelbee!
Hope you’re having a great week!
    Suzy xx

    • Suzy, thank you so much! The multi-colored one was the first to catch my eye! Then I spied the purple one. And when I tried them both on, they were so equally striking that I couldn’t turn down either! Ha. And small business is where it’s at! We have to support each other!

  15. Great looks and great post. I too try to support small businesses, but yours is still my favorite 😉 I recently bought a few dresses because of you! I even layered one over jeans when I was trying it on. Now, let’s see if I can do it out and about! I like the idea of loose wide legs under, linen or whatever. The problem I am having, is the ones that used to be “loose”, arent so loose any more lol. Spread the kindness lady! Love all the links and plugs you added in. 🙂 Lots of work, but shares the love 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Aimee! I am so glad that I have helped you rediscover your edge! You really have a knack for styling yourself in new and interesting ways! And thanks for your kindness…always! Love you.

  16. Beautiful dresses! I love LuLaRoe 🙂

  17. Such fun colors and patterns!

  18. Love the prints and colors but most of all how YOU radiate kindness. XO Susan

    • Wow, Susan, thank you so much for that lovely compliment! If we lose the ability to be kind, we have lost too much, I think! So I try every day to do my part in keeping kindness alive and well.

  19. I love that you promote other small businesses on your blog! Both of those prints are gorgeous! So cute styled over the loose pants!
