I don’t really think this classifies as a legitimate “how to” post because it is really simple. You pull on some cute over the knee socks with an above the knee skirt or dress (or shorts) no matter what your age and the rock the hell out it!
I am going to totally throw my sister under the bus here (sorry, sis)…back in my mid-thirties, my sister would make fun of me for wearing knee high and over the knee socks. She told me it was ridiculous that a woman of my age would dress that way. At first, I tried to disregard her words. But then after I had children, those words started haunting me. I felt like not only should a woman of my age not dress that way…but, horror of horrors, a mother should not dress this way!
Then this same sister is the one who encouraged me to start this little blog to show off my creative side! Yes, the sister who quashed all of my over-the-knee-sock-dreams lifted me up and put me on my crazy little fashion pedestal. So redemption for us all!
Also, the blogging community and Catherine’s (Not Dressed as Lamb) #iwillwearwhatilike movement made me realize that I need to stay true to my own style. And boy, do I love my socks! I literally have 100’s of pairs! Actually, three giant bins full of socks. Most of them are knee high or over the knee. And I can’t part with any of them because I just love them all so much! (#itsasockproblem) I even have a Pinterest board entitled Sock Problem!
So, I say to hell with what anyone says…I am wearing my over the knee socks! I actually was going to be super nervy and title this post “How to Wear Over the Knee Socks When You Are Over 40 and Over 200 Pounds”! The only reason I didn’t use that title is because this is a link up post as well and it just got to be way too long! But in the interest of showing you all that I have no shame of my body, I just put my weight right out there! Well, maybe I have a little shame. Like the normal amount. But I certainly have no shame in my weight. Whatever. I weigh over 200 pounds and I can keep up with my kids (as well as any 40+ mom of young boys). I can fit into clothes that flatter me. And my husband thinks I’m sexy. Enough said.
So, please ladies, wear whatever the hell you want! If you wear it with a smile and some confidence, you will wear it well! By the way, this was probably the most fun I had shooting photos to date! One of the reasons I shared a tremendous amount of photos in this post (#sorrynotsorry). But I compromised with fewer words this time. A big thank you to my confidante, my friend, my photographer, and one of my biggest supporters, Amy! I couldn’t do this without you! Thank you so much! I love you right through that camera lens!

And how gorgeous is Suzanne of Ask Suzanne Bell in her printed wrap dress paired with that adorable zebra print bag featured in her What I Wore: Color Me Bright + Labor Day Sales, Nordstrom Sale Picks post!
I don’t know if you noticed that I have shortened my link up name from On the Edge of the Week Link Up to Link Up On the Edge. I like it better. What do you think? I still need to create a new button. I will try to have that ready by next week.
Also, tell me what daring and “inappropriate” styles you have been trying lately. Better yet, show me and link them up!
Over 40, overweight, and rocking my over the knee socks on the edge,
I also link up with these fabulous link ups.
