Winter is one of the most romantic seasons. Whether you have just started dating someone or you have been together for years, there is just something magical about going on a date during the colder months. Maybe it is the added incentive to cuddle up close for warmth or the possibility of walking into a restaurant under the twinkle of holiday lights. One challenge, however, is that winter fashion is not always the cutest unless you put in some extra thought. Coats tend to be a bit bulky and sometimes unflattering while snow boots are not exactly the most appealing footwear for a romantic outing. Finding the balance between practical and feeling pretty can be a bit tricky. So to help you create the idyllic image of the perfect romantic evening, here are some outfit ideas to match popular winter date concepts.

The Movie Date

Going to see a movie is a classic date idea and it is even better during winter when you are trying to escape the frigid outside temperatures. Plus, most of the best movies are released during the Winter months around the holidays. For a movie date, a casual outfit is usually best. Think of styling a long sleeved striped shirt, on-trend high rise straight legged denim, and patent leather loafers. To add a little extra flair, wear your favorite dazzling silver hoop earrings and a cozy scarf. Remember to bring a soft coat or fleece jacket for cuddling up in the chilly cinema air because let’s face it, movie theaters tend to be cold even in the Winter when the heat should be blasting.

The Ice Skating Rendezvous

Ice skating is an idyllic Winter date idea especially if you are the physically coordinated sort of couple. For this date, be sure to wear something you can move in. Black leggings and an oversized, forest green turtleneck is the perfect combination for comfort and style and it also matches the vibe of both the season and the activity. For additional warmth without too much extra bulk, add a cute black beanie and matching gloves.

A Date at an Ice Hockey Game

Sticking with the theme of skating, an ice hockey game can be a ton of fun as a Winter date. For this occasion, the go to outfit would naturally be a team jersey. However, if sports team apparel isn’t really your jam, opt for a cute and comfortable outfit combination. A pink Champion crewneck sweatshirt paired with black jeans and white tennis shoes is the perfect style for a sporty look that isn’t over the top sports fan.

The Couples Cooking Class Date

Cooking classes offer a wonderful way for established and budding couples alike to spend time together. These types of classes seem to be appearing more and more often as a fun bonding experience for couples. At the start of the holiday season, culinary workshops tend to offer classes on how to make festive treats, too, which are often more manageable for beginners. A good outfit for this type of date might be a long sleeved black tee shirt with a pair of wide legged overalls in olive green. For a date of this sort, it is important to choose closed toe flat shoes for safety and comfort.

A Casual Stroll to Look at Holiday Lights

Taking a stroll at night to look at the beautiful holiday lights and decorations in your neighborhood or nearby downtown area makes for a romantic Winter date. Not only is it super quaint, but it doesn’t cost anything which is perfect for those on a tight budget. This sweet date idea calls for a super soft, classic flannel like these adorable seasonal options from Woman Within. With a core focus of creating stylish clothing that any woman can feel comfortable in, this brand has set the bar for flannel looks in 2019. Style one of these classic flannels with a pair of stylish boyfriend jeans, add a furry coat and a cute headband to keep your ears warm, and you will have created the perfect Winter girl-next-door look.

The Museum Date

Heading to a local museum is a great way to experience some culture together and perhaps spark some good conversation or learn more about each other’s interests. To reflect the sophistication of this sort of venue, consider the classic jeans and blazer look similar to one that I styled recently inspired by Pinterest. A timeless black blazer over a fitted neutral tee shirt will help you fit right into the museum atmosphere. Go for a pair of dark wash skinny jeans to avoid being mistaken for a museum curator.

Sharing Festive Hot Beverages

The month of December practically mandates that you enjoy a giant mug of hot chocolate or a flavored latte in a cozy café with the object of your affection. To make a memorable impression on your café date, create a coffee-shop chic outfit by wearing a fitted, ivory turtleneck tucked into a pair of golden brown carpenter pants. Complete the look with a tan trench coat from the latest THEORY line, brown ankle boots, and your favorite neutral colored beret.

What are your thoughts on date night outfits in the Winter?
