The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Black & White

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

The theme for September is Black & White, a classic combination that seems to always work. Thanks so much to all the fabulous women who have joined us this month in your beautiful black and white outfits.

*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.

Let’s get started and hopefully you will find some wonderful style inspiration below.

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style

“This is a Good Buy outfit. I just love my tulle, recently bought a denim tulle skirt which I will show on the blog soon! But this one is my old drama tulle one. And I love the belted blazer on it, and of course my gun metal ankle boots! I never liked black and white outfits, at least that’s what I thought. Because I actually wear it pretty often…”

Gwen of Gwen Lives Well

“These are spanks joggers, love Chico’s denim jacket and my white Grayson shirt. And my cute Stuart Weitzman sneakers.”

Gwen

Stella Carakasi designs perfect, stylish garments for women, smashing the notion that we must be a certain size to feel comfortable or look fabulous in what we choose to wear. Love these essential pieces, including my white tunic and black leggings. Use code GWEN10 for 10% off a first-time purchase.”

My actual item for my Good Buy/Good Bye entry in this outfit is this stretchy black and white Lucite bracelet. I found it at a vintage fair a couple of years ago for $5.00 and I probably wear it at least a dozen times every spring/summer (I put it away in the fall/winter – I have too much jewelry!). I’m sure it’s at pennies per wear. Such a Good Buy!

Heather of Bauchle Fashion

“This black and white jacket is such a great buy. Not only is it versatile, but it can add a classy sense of colour to any neutral outfit.”

“I tend to wear a lot of black and white and immediately thought of this old shirt; seriously I think this lace overlay and black lined shirt is nearly 10 years old at this point.  A definite good buy as it has held up well over the years and through all my weight loss and gain and then loss again. I paired it with my favorite new capri pants and a pair of black sandals.”

Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style

“I rarely buy things in either of these colors since they aren’t the best colors for my face. But I couldn’t resist this OFS top when we were thrifting because it was so whimsical AND it had the pop of orange. I’m so glad I bought it because it’s one of the OFS shirts that actually stays off the shoulders all day long. And I had to wear it as part of a mixed print outfit just for fun!!”

Jodie

Lesley of Jodie’s Touch of Style

“Lesley wears a lot black and white. The white dress and scarf outfit is something she adores and wears frequently.”

“I had forgotten about this outfit and need to rewear it soon. This tunic dress is just much easier to wear with leggings but I really should have sized up for comfort: it is a little tight!”

Mireille

Rena of Fine Whatever

“In one of my Would You, Could You posts, I asked my readers what they thought of wearing white sandals with black jeans. All of the comments were in favor of this styling idea.”

Rena

Hilda of Over the Hilda

“Love my trousers Top Shop and cardi…local boutique…years old…My kind of black and white.”

“These espadrilles are comfortable and cute, but I never reached for them. They were just too hard to style and ended up being not my taste.”

And my black and white outfits…

“I found this cute polka dot dress in my local consignment shop a few years ago. It was a little snug when I bought it so I only wore it once. But I think I need to give it a another try before I declare it a Good-Bye dress.”

Shelbee

“I bought this black and white tie dye kimono from Torrid a few years ago and it is one of my favorites. I wear it often during spring and summer kimono season. Definitely a Good Buy!”
