Last week, I introduced you all to a new series here at Shelbee on the EdgeRadical Ralphie: The Boy Fashion Blogger. And if you recall my post from last Tuesday about Unexpected Gifts, you may recognize this adorable little bomber jacket that Mireille of Chez Mireille so generously gifted to my style crazed 6 year old. He can be finicky and rather stubborn when it comes to his clothing. Actually, he can be finicky and stubborn when it comes to just about anything in life. As such, I wasn’t sure if he would be overly excited about his new jacket when it arrived or if he would toss it to the ground adamantly stating that he hated it. Thank goodness his reaction was positive as he promptly slipped the jacket on and declared that he wasn’t going to take it off. Ever. Thank you, Mireille, for washing it first because he was not going to allow me the time to wash before wearing!

Thanks again, Mireille! You are so kind and generous and we are very grateful!

Speaking of stubborn, this little guy does not want my help in styling his outfits for photo shoots. I tried to switch out his boots for an adorable pair of Merrill hiking boots with touches of orange to coordinate with his blue and orange checked shirt, but he was not having it. Apparently, these gray chukka boots are his blogging boots and it is what he will wear until he changes his mind about what he will wear. I mean, I have only been doing this blogging thing for over 4 years, but what the heck do I know?

Once he had his outfit complete with tan cargo pants, checked shirt, chukka boots, and his new bomber jacket sporting all sorts of military inspired patches, he asked if he could borrow my Army baseball cap. Because it matched the jacket. Then he asked Archie if he could borrow his binoculars for a prop because he thought the outfit looked like an Army general in the field and he needed the proper equipment to give it more credibility. We then headed out for photos and he was like a damn diva, this kid. He did not approve of the location we had chosen to shoot photos. So after a mini break down, we told him we would drive around and if he saw a spot he liked, we would stop there.

We were heading to the old abandoned tank factory to shoot my outfit (shown in Sunday’s post) and as we turned down the dead end road that takes us to the factory, Ralph enthusiastically yelled and pointed, “Right there, by that fence, in those weeds! That’s where we need to take my pictures.” The boy-diva had spoken so we obliged. And the kid really gets into character when he’s feeling it! Maybe I need to get him involved in drama club.

After a few quick shots, the wee one was shivering from cold and was just about done putting on his fashion blogging act. And he simply does not have the capacity to suck it up for the sake of the blog, like his poor freezing mother does! It’s okay. I guess we will cut him some slack. But only because he’s so darn cute.
