It is time again for Your Own Twist. I am sharing a Picnic in the Park style to kick off some summertime action. Unfortunately, Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart will be unable to join me this month, but she should be back for July’s Summer Loving theme.

About Your Own Twist

Your Own Twist is a monthly link party hosted by Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart and me on the third Thursday of every month with the goal of inspiring some of our friends to get creative with personal style.

The idea behind this collaboration is to take one common piece or theme and style it our own way with our own twist…Monica and I have both taken a lot of fashion inspiration from one another over the past few years even though we have totally different styles. It is always fun to see how we can interpret similar items in unique ways or what kind of twist we will each bring to the chosen theme.

We will let you know the themes well in advance in the event that you would like to use the theme for your own post and add it to the link party. However, any fashion posts are welcome regardless of whether you used the theme or not. Check out the graphic below which has some of our upcoming style prompts.

When I think of a picnic in a the park, I think colorful comfort. I want to be visible in the bright sunshine, but comfortable enough to run around and play park games with the children.

I know you are all probably quite done with sweatpants and tee shirts coming out of the past year when many of us lived in our loungewear. But I didn’t really embrace sweatpants until earlier this spring. I spent the long months of lockdown in leggings and cozy sweaters and I did tire of that outfit formula after the long winter months. As I began to emerge back into the world of retail shopping, I was taken in by all the fun sweatpants and sweatshirts that were circling through all of my favorite retail stores.

Since I waited so long to jump on the sweatpants bandwagon, I was able to score some really cute and cozy pairs on clearance sales including this pair of neon yellow joggers from Old Navy for $7. They are so soft and comfortable that I wore them on a weekly basis when the spring weather was still very cold.

I am not one to ever style true sweatpants for wearing outside of my house. That has never been my thing. For all of my life, I have reserved sweatpants for lounging or working out and that is it. But I am all about stepping outside of my comfort zone and trying new things. It is a bit ironic that the most comfortable of all pant styles is out of my comfort zone! But I wanted to see if I could style sweatpants and still feel put together enough to go do things outside of my home.

A picnic in the park seemed like the perfect occasion to style my neon sweatpants. Since sweatpants are about comfort, styling them should be simple and, well, comfortable. A basic white tee shirt tied at the waist gave the outfit a relaxed easy feeling. I dug out my favorite silver Fauxenstocks because footbed sandals are basically the best summer footwear ever. And since it was a bit chilly when we photographed my picnic in the park style, I grabbed my striped denim jacket that was a recent thrift shop find (I styled it previously here).

Since there is not too much to discuss about this outfit after that, I do want to take a moment to talk about my favorite everyday earrings. I received these silver diamond hoop earrings from Anjolee for a blog collaboration over two years ago. As with any collaboration, I fulfilled all of my obligations for posting about the product and the company. But I realized after having these earrings for two years that they are literally my favorite earrings ever and I wear them almost on a daily basis. So I felt like I should share about them again.

When I first received them and was writing my obligatory post, I had it in the back of my head that nobody would ever spend in excess of $2,500 for a pair of lab created diamond earrings. When I agreed to the initial collaboration, I certainly would have never spent that amount of money on any kind of earrings. Until now. After having these earrings for two years, I absolutely would spend that amount of money on a pair of earrings. Well, on this pair of earrings, for sure.

They go with everything no matter how dressed up or dressed down I am. The quality is absolutely wonderful and the comfort level is equal. I always like to wear earrings even if I am only wearing lounge clothes and these diamond hoops are perfect for that. I figure at this point, I am well under $5 per wear and I have only had the earrings for two years. If you are in the market for quality, comfortable, versatile diamond hoops, I really do highly recommend checking out what Anjolee has to offer.

Again, I have fulfilled all of my obligations for this collaboration and I no longer have any affiliation with this company. I really am just a huge fan and wanted to share with you again. For more details and close up photos of the earrings, you can read my original post here.
