What To Wear To A Fall Wedding: 6 Outfits by 6 Gorgeous Gals

A few weeks ago, Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood invited me to join her and a few other bloggers for a collaboration post on fall wedding outfits. I always feel so honored when asked to participate in these types of collaborations. For that, I want to thank Ada from the bottom of my heart. And as usual, I am more than happy to join you.

I did not know who the other bloggers were participating in this collaboration until I sat down to draft this post. To my gleeful surprise, I found Ada had put together quite the line up of amazing gals for this post! So please do make sure and pay them all a visit and see what they have styled for a fall wedding.

I styled this outfit a few weeks ago, right around the time Ada asked me to participate. It seems funny to me sharing these photos of a sleeveless dress and bare legs as I sit in my living room buried under some major lake effect snow! But that is North Country living for you…at its best.

It was 72 degrees here on Saturday and late Sunday night the temperature dove down and the snow started coming in off of Lake Ontario. Don’t get me wrong…I love snow. I think it is so beautiful. But where I live the snow is usually accompanied by lots of wind which makes wearing dresses quite the challenge (unless, of course, you don’t mind exposing your underthings)! Also, once the snow arrives in these parts, it is usually here to stay until sometime around mid-May. So while I do love the snow, I would love it much better without the endless stream of black sludge that gets tracked through my house for 6 plus months and ruins all of my cute shoes! Time to bring out my old tried and true L.L. Bean sludge-resistant boots!

So for a moment at least, I am going to enjoy the beautiful flowers on my purple dress! They will be the only flowers seen around for a while. I picked up this dress last year on clearance from Kohl’s. I had my eye on it for quite some time and waited for it go on clearance. I also had some Kohl’s cash at the time of purchase, so I actually paid nothing for it the day I bought it.

The wrap front of the dress is a tad bit too low cut for my taste so I closed it up with a fuzzy burgundy pin that I have had tucked away in my jewelry box for years. I usually do add this pin to this thrifted velvet blazer in the same color. I have had this burgundy velvet blazer for about 8 years.   I picked it up at a thrift shop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for around $7. It makes an appearance a few times every year as it is one of my favorites. And this year, with velvet being so trendy, I am so glad that I have kept this beauty for as long as I have!

I accessorized with some classic pearl jewelry, burgundy pumps with a bow detail, and a metallic clutch. Most of my pearl jewelry is decades old as are these shoes. After I had children, I disposed of most of my dressy heels because I really had no use for them. But I love these so much that I just could never part with them. And I sure am glad for that because the color is perfectly on trend right now, they are super comfortable, and they match most of my dressier outfits!

While I do not have any fall weddings (or any weddings at all, for that matter) in the foreseeable future, this is one outfit I would definitely wear if I receive a wedding invitation! And that is good news for me because I hate shopping under pressure!
