What I Wore Wednesday, the Craziest, Most Stressful, Bring Me to My Knees in Tears Day of the Week

Wednesday. Yesterday. I thought I had it all together. I finally published my first blog post since January and I was feeling motivated and ready to roll. My second blog post was on my agenda for the day. I drank my first cup of coffee and logged in to my website with a great big inspired smile on my face. Only to quickly discover that the universe and all of its technology had other plans for me.

On Tuesday, none of my pictures since Saturday were loading onto my iCloud account so that I could access them via my laptop. Wednesday morning, everything was there, available, and ready for my use. But then WordPress kept giving me errors every time I tried to a load a photo onto my website. At first I attempted to troubleshoot the problem myself via Google searches. There was lots of information out there regarding the problem I was having; however, all the technical jargon was throwing me for a loop. After about 3 solid hours of trying to solve the problem myself, I contacted online customer support through my host. After waiting 26 minutes for a tech to be available, she concluded in about 3 minutes that they could not resolve the issue as it was a problem with WordPress.

So I spent 4 more hours trying to figure how to get live WordPress support, but to no avail. Again back to troubleshooting the issue myself. Most answers I was finding were pointing back to the host as the starting point for a resolution for this particular problem. But the host already said they could not resolve it. So instead of taking that route again, I decided I needed to upgrade my version of WordPress. This took about 20 minutes to complete the upgrade process, and BAM! MY ENTIRE WEBSITE DISAPPEARED! GONE! COMPLETELY GONE. Like the day I first started it. A blank page with zero content. OMG.

I sat there for a good 30 minutes, trying to take deep breaths and calm down. Rationalizing with myself that everything on the internet is always there in some form. Pepping myself up that if the content was indeed completely gone that I would just create a new website and make it even better. All the while fighting back the tears.

Okay. Calm enough now. I contacted my host’s online support for the second time. Waited 23 minutes for an available tech. The tech worked on it for about 5 minutes, came back, and requested a few more minutes. And much to my wondering eyes did appear, my website back in its original form with all of its content in tact! And…the tech also rectified the initial picture loading problem! I don’t know what he did and frankly I don’t really care. But he saved my day and my website! No thanks to the first tech who cost me hours of time and a panic attack!

All the while this was going on, for hours upon stressful hours, I was sitting at my computer getting my outfit of the day all wrinkled and crinkled and never even left my house except for a brief excursion to my back yard to take a few photos. Since no one else other my children witnessed me dressed yesterday, I guess I will share said outfit with you fine people.

During my blogging hiatus, I have started participating in a wonderfully fun style challenge almost daily. The super cool Oregon couple, Mercedes and Andy, put out a Colors of the Day challenge every Monday through Friday and so many interesting, creative, and beautiful folks share their unique styles on their Facebook Group Page, COTD Style. Yesterday’s challenge was Hyundai Veloster Red and Steel Wool Gray. Hence, the colors in my outfit. If you are interested in participating with COTD, definitely send a request to be added to their Facebook group. You can also follow along and participate on COTDStyle on Instagram.

Has anyone else ever had a scare like mine…losing your entire website? Any technological tips you fellow bloggers have to offer is always greatly appreciated!

If you get the chance to check out the COTD Style Facebook Group, please let me know how you like it!

Still keeping it on the edge (and only one day behind on my planned blogging schedule),
