With the holidays arriving quickly, this is the season when the military hosts lots of balls and formal events for the soldiers and their significant others. While I do not have a holiday ball on the books for this season, I have attended quite a few in my years as an Army wife. Looking back on all of our formal events with the military, it seems that I have opted for either a blue or red gown every single time. I love these rich jewel tones for formal events especially during the holiday season. They seem so festive without being gimmicky. So let me share some of my favorite military ball gowns.
My Favorite Blue Gowns
1. Long Lace Dress with Sequins ($145.00).
2. Tulle with Rhinestone Off the Shoulder Gown ($149.00).
3. Tulle Vee Neck Gown with Beaded Lace Appliqué ($178.00).
My Favorite Red Gowns
1. Lace Vee Neck A-Line Dress ($128.00).
2. Tulle Off the Shoulder A-Line Dress with Beaded Lace Appliqué ($149.00).
3. Tulle Sweetheart A-Line Strapless Dress with Beading ($145.00).
Lately I have been seeing so many formal gowns in floral prints and they always catch my eye. If you really want to be bold in your holiday special occasion dress, check out these gorgeous floral dresses.

Loving that fabulous floral number in the middle! I am not sure if I will be attending anything this formal for this season or not, but I love that dress enough to have it just in case !

That first blue one caught my eye immediately! I love blue dresses especially ballgown styles. Amazing picks!

Thanks so much, Laura! I am always drawn to cobalt blues for formal dresses, too. It is such a royal color!

I am glad you enjoyed my picks, Roxanne! I actually have some brand new gowns still hanging in my closet for formal military events that never happened! Ha. I should just wear them anyway! Thanks for stopping by.

My wedding dress is my formal go to – it wasn’t white. 22 years later it still fits and occasionally gets a wear….
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Lydia, I can’t even tell you how much I love the idea of you wearing your wedding dress over and over again even 22 years later! That is so fantastic! My wedding dress could also be re-worn for special occasions as it is not formal at all…except it doesn’t fit. Boo! Thanks so much for stopping and sharing this.

My goodness Shelbee, all of these dresses are gorgeous, and the prices are fantastic. If I needed a formal dress, I would definitely consider one of these. Maybe it sounds terrible, but I’ve gotten to where the thought of dressing up for a formal is just TOO much! LOL
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
There are so many pretty ones to choose from, Julie, that I always have a hard time deciding. But I also am with you on the dressing up bit…I really do not like getting dressed formal either. I like to dress up…but not that dressed up! It is too much for me these days. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day.
