Thrifted Tweed Blazer

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, and great food. Mine was a quiet, but enjoyable holiday with just myself, my kids, and our roommate, A. I have to admit deployment holidays are kind of a bummer, but we made the best of it. We avoided the hassle of a turkey and had shrimp, steak, ad chicken breast on the grill instead. And it was delicious! I feel rested and rejuvenated and ready to get back to blogging!

So, here we go…on with it!

I found this gorgeous Talbots tweed blazer in a beautiful autumnal color palette at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store for a mere $3 and change. Plus an additional $8 to have it cleaned and that is definitely a score for me! It has 3/4 length sleeves which usually works for me because sometimes blazer sleeves are too short for my long arms anyway. With a purposeful shorter sleeve, it looks less like my clothes don’t fit! I’m not sure how old this blazer is, but the burgundy colors are right on trend for this Fall. And I love the chocolate brown trim on the collar, cuffs, and pockets. It also has faux wooden buttons in chocolate brown. My son thought the buttons were made of actual chocolate, so much so that he had to smell them to verify that I was not fibbing when I told him my buttons were NOT in fact candy or edible!

I really like the trend of pairing a structured blazer with other less structured pieces. So I wore a burgundy boxy tee with darker washed boyfriend jeans and dark brown Chelsea boots. A simple long chevron necklace in rose gold and an ivory infinity scarf finished the look. I spent the day shopping, dining out, and catching an afternoon showing of Meet the Coopers in this outfit. I was comfortable but still felt put together and even a little bit sassy. By the way, Meet the Coopers was a great holiday movie! John Goodman and Diane Keaton were amazing together. I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more. It was fortunate that my friend, E., and I were the only people in the theater because we kind of laughed really hard and loud at certain points. I am definitely adding this movie to my holiday watch list.
