As the Fall season is upon us and it is still way too hot in northern New York for my perimenopausal self to be donning the latest in autumnal fashions, I thought I would share a little roundup of some of my favorite summer outfits that never made it onto the blog. And if it is still scorching where you live, maybe you will find some late season inspiration as our summer fashion ideas are becoming stale. So to kick off September and the final days of summer…here are some of my favorites from this season! (I generally post my outfits daily on Instagram so if you follow me there,…

All American Ensembles
With Independence Day quickly approaching as the quintessential All-American holiday and the epitome of summer celebrations, I thought I would provide you with some outfit inspirations in our national colors. Leopard, Stripes, and My Red Cape
If you have always wanted to mix patterns, but you are unsure of how to do it, remember this: One of the easiest combinations to pattern mix successfully is stripes and leopard. To make it even easier, pair a black and white striped top with a leopard print scarf. Throw in a splash of red and you look like you have known what you are doing all along. No one would ever guess you had doubts. For additional inspiration in pattern mixing combinations, check out here where I paired leopard with a splash of red, here where I combined a striped shirt with leopard shoes, and here where I wore…

Kitten Shoes…Meow
Some days I just want to wear my kitten shoes. And some days my kitten shoes are the most practical choice. It just depends. On this day, the cats were the only shoes that really looked right with my new clearance ($6 at Kohl’s) burgundy boot cut corduroy pants. These pants are so super soft with a fine corduroy ribbing and the color is right on trend this season. I paired my wine colored pants with a simple black cotton tunic, a pale heather gray infinity scarf, some argyle socks, and a handy dark wash denim jacket. Very simple, very basic, but with kitten shoes! You cannot argue the creativity…

My Plaid Poncho
The September issue (which came out in August) of Redbook Magazine featured this red plaid poncho in their piece “Fab Fall Style Under $100.” It is from Old Navy, one of my favorite places to shop. And for only $39.94 for wool-blend outerwear, I thought this was a great deal! But I couldn’t find it in Old Navy for a really long time. I would check the store, then the website. Nothing. Finally sometime in October, there was the poncho available online. But I really wanted to check out the quality in person before making my purchase. I kept checking in the store and it was not there and the…
