Friday Favorites 3 & Link Up On the Edge #180
I wasn’t sure if I would have enough things to share for another Friday Favorites post for a third consecutive week. But since I was trapped in a sick house for the better part of the week, I did quite a bit of Netflix binging among some other things that a person does when they are just sitting around feeling kind of gross. Watched/Watching Netflix Original Series Virgin River. It is a classic story of a big city professional (a nurse practitioner) who relocates to a small town to escape the pain in her past and start anew. Of course, she discovers that she brought her pain with her and…

A New Decade: Regrets, Resolutions, and Reinvention
Welcome to a new decade. The year is 2020. And I am not really sure how to proceed from here. Do I leap blindly into the future paying no heed to the dangers that may lie ahead? Do I tiptoe cautiously forward hoping for the best? Do I stay the same as I have always been and consistently fly by the seat of my pants? Or should I be more diligent in carefully laying out detailed plans with specific goals in mind? One would think that with 45 years of life experience, I would have a better clue. But I suppose with the wisdom of the years, the only thing…

How Radical Ralphie Got His Name
When I first introduced my little Boy Fashion Blogger: Radical Ralphie, I shared the story of how it all came to be and how he very effectively branded himself Radical Ralphie. His blogging name aside, I am often asked how both of my kids got their names. They do have somewhat unique names for this modern generation of children, so I will explain. Ralphie’s older brother Archie is named in full Archer James Herling. Their father, Jeff, comes from a family that loves to hunt. I was all about the name Hunter to honor this family tradition. But as often happens when new parents are deciding on a name, disagreements…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Coats and Outerwear
Happy New Year! I had a nice little break from blogging and engaged in lots of rest and relaxation which was much needed. I literally sat around for 4 straight days and binge watched Netflix. Guilt-free. Then I got some blogging ideas somewhat organized for the month and planned some other life goals and strategies. In the middle of it all, I remembered that I needed to post a quick reminder for the upcoming Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! So here it is… In just 10 days, Nancy and I will be posting the eleventh edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! The theme…

Inspired By High Latitude Style: Black Plaid, Red Tulle, and A Side of Frostnip with A Link Up On the Edge #76
Did you know that there is a difference between frostbite and frostnip? I did not until I just looked it up on emedicinehealth. During the outdoor photo session for this post, there may have been some slight weather related injuries to myself and my photographer, Amy. And since I am so frozen these days, my brain has been unable to produce meaningful content for you all…so I thought this was a great opportunity to combine a little science lesson with my style post. But I would remiss if I did not send a shout out to my fellow cold weather blogger and science enthusiast, Nicole of High Latitude Style. I…

Merry Menopause
Did you catch the irony of that title? Menopause or perimenopause or whatever this is that is taking place in my 43 1/2 year old body is not so merry. In fact, it is quite literally, the least merry experience of my life. Seriously, what is this holy hot and cold hell? *This jacket was provided to me for the purposes of this blog post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. Some women who have come through this stage of life share similar stories of bodily torment. Others claim to have breezed through it unscathed. Now, I know that all women are different and we all…
