Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: The Power of Music
I am a woman with absolutely no musical talents whatsoever. I cannot play an instrument, I absolutely cannot sing, and if you told me I had to dance for my supper, I would probably starve. However, that doesn’t take away the power and impact that music has had on my life. I love music. And while I cannot have a meaningful discussion about any of the technicalities of music and I know very little about music theory or history, I can still feel its power. And when its power moves me, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, sends shivers down my spine, and brings…

The Fab 40’s in Plaid and Floral
I am always up for doing something a little unexpected. So when Mary of Curlybyrdie Chirps suggested mixing plaid and floral for this month’s Fab 40’s theme, I was enthusiastic to get to work creating my look. Not to mention that plaid and florals are two of my favorite prints and I have an overabundance of both in my closet. No trips to the thrift shop would be necessary for this theme like last month’s wild challenge required. The Fab 40’s is a group of six fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme and invite a guest blogger who is also in their 40’s to…

New Year, New You: Body Positive Inspired Outfit & Your Own Twist Link Up #4
With the arrival of a new year, so many of us focus on manifesting new and better versions of ourselves. What can we improve in our lives to be healthier, happier, and more productive? How can we feel more confident and more comfortable with who we are in the bodies we have been given? Sure, there is much to be said for proper diet and exercise in maintaining a healthy and productive lifestyle. But there is even more to be said when we can learn to love ourselves completely with every flaw, every bump, bulge, and jiggle, and every crease and wrinkle. Feeling beautiful makes you look beautiful and sometimes…

Shelbee’s Sunday Morning Quarterback #17: Citrus Bowl Loss Sours McSorley’s Final Game
Welcome to the seventeenth episode of Shelbee’s Sunday Morning Quarterback! Turning it over now to my husband, the Sunday Morning Quarterback, with a recap of last week’s Citrus Bowl where our beloved Penn State faced off against Kentucky. Citrus Bowl Loss Sours McSorley’s Final Game #14 Kentucky Wildcats 27 – #12 Penn State Nittany Lions 24 The final game of Trace McSorley’s career was supposed to end with another 10 win season, the chance to break 10,000 career passing yards and give Penn State its third consecutive 10 win season…a feat that hasn’t happened since the 1980-82 seasons and never since the Nittany Lions joined the Big Ten Conference. Unfortunately,…

It’s the Little Things with EvaTrends & Link Up On the Edge #124
“Perfect happiness is a beautiful sunset, the giggle of a grandchild, the first snowfall. It’s the little things that make happy moments, not the grand events. Joy comes in sips, not gulps.” -Sharon Draper “Joy comes in sips, not gulps.” My word, isn’t that the truth? In the past few weeks, I have been sipping away like a delighted young child who has not yet been scarred by the harshness of living. I have been enjoying each and every moment of abundant bliss and have been allowing myself to indulge in all the “little things that make happy moments”. And like I child, I really do get ridiculously excited over…

Weekend Wish List: JustFab
You should be fully aware by now of my shoe and boot addiction. I literally cannot help myself. There is just something about footwear that completely fascinates me and appeals to every aesthetic sense that I have. I love the shape of shoes, the design, the heels, the toes, the patterns, the fabrics. The crazier the shoe, the more I adore it. I could browse through shoe posts on Pinterest for hours on end and never tire of it. In fact, my Pinterest board, Shoe Envy, has over 3,000 shoe pins and I want them all. I wish I had a shoe room where I could simply showcase all the…

Weekend Wish List: Simply Be Footwear
Do you remember my new favorite boots from Simply Be? I shared them back in September and they are so cool and edgy and comfortable and perfect for North Country winters. Ever since I received these boots, I have been telling everyone who has issues finding tall boots that fit properly about this company. You know how when you shop for tall boots you get two choices, regular calf or wide calf? Well, I am not sure how one determines if her calves are “regular” or “wide”. My calves, for example, are 16 1/2 inches at the widest point. I have no idea if that is considered regular or wide…

Shelbee’s Sunday Morning Quarterback #8: 4th Quarter Liver Failure
#17 Penn State Nittany Lions 30 – #18 Iowa Hawkeyes 24 Welcome to the eighth episode of Shelbee’s Sunday Morning Quarterback! And here’s my husband, the Sunday Morning Quarterback, with the highlights from yesterday’s Penn State game against Iowa. 4th Quarter Liver Failure Seriously, my liver cannot handle Penn State 4th quarters this season…Four straight games decided by 6 points or less with a fifth one decided by a touchdown, all coming down to the last series of the game and two that didn’t fall in the Nittany Lions’ favor. Folks, I tell you this season is putting a workout on my liver during Saturday afternoons, along with having to…
