About Blogging and Link Ups & Link Up On the Edge #141
I am reading a lot of buzz around the world of blogging about link ups and the new Inlinkz formatting and such. Lots of bloggers are having issues setting the link parties and the time at which they go live. Others are having problems adding their posts to the parties with the new formatting. So far, I have not had too much trouble creating the parties or joining them. My only issue currently is that I am being charged twice a month for the service. For those of you who do not host link parties, you may not be aware that there is a fee associated with hosting these parties.…

Being Kind to Yourself & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #117
“The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.” -Carl Jung Self-acceptance is a hard pill to swallow. I am not sure why. I mean, I am the one person whom I spend absolutely the most time with. Every second of every day, in fact. You would think that an undying love and an unconditional acceptance would come along with that. I have been in this relationship with myself for almost 45 years. Learning, living, growing, changing, evolving, transcending. Making mistakes, repairing wounds, healing, fixing, building. I have spent countless hours in self-relfection. I have had an extraordinary number of conversations with myself over the years. Some of these conversations…

Sunshine Blogger Award Part 2 & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #116
You may have already seen my post a few weeks ago when Rama nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Well, I have been nominated again by my dear friend Jess of Elegantly Dressed and Stylish! Thanks so much, Jess! I am honored. Since Jess has posed a different series of questions, I figured it was a great way to keep things interesting here on the edge by answering what she is interested in knowing as well. However, I am going to do it a little differently and I am not going to nominate anyone new in this post. Please check out my last Sunshine Blogger post to see who…

More Than Your Sexuality & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #114
I know this woman in my town. Her name is Luci. And she is gay. I never ever would introduce someone like this…leading with a reference to their sexuality. Because it really matters not to me what your sexual preference is. Really, the way I should be introducing her is more like this… Luci is a woman in my town whom I know through mutual friends. She is a brilliant hair stylist, a master of makeup techniques, an inspiration in the commitment required to embark on a major weight loss journey. She is beautiful, friendly, kind, dedicated, edgy, unique, and a prime example of how much light can shine from…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book:Long Cardigans & Link Up On the Edge #136
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. Over a year ago, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit. For this series, you can choose whether you want to…

Life’s Great Paradox: The Ambiguity of Time with Jord Watches & Link Up On the Edge #135
I find myself pondering the anomaly of time lately. At nearly 45 years old, right in the middle of my life (based, of course, on the current life expectancy of 78 years for an American woman), I often experience this strange sensation of inconsistency as I hear myself saying, “Life is short, live it well,” followed quickly by, “You have all the time in the world to get things done. Take your time and do it right.” And it makes me question, which is it? Do we have all the time in the world? I guess, sometimes we do. And then we see lives ended abruptly due to tragic events,…

Little Red Dress Event & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #112
On February 22, I attended a women’s networking event hosted by my favorite financial advisors, Nichole Wall and Laura Nicol of New York Life Insurance Company. The theme for the event was the Little Red Dress in honor of heart health awareness month. I was invited to be one of the guest speakers to share some of my favorite styling tips, but earlier that week I came down with laryngitis that left me completely and totally silent. Like no sound would come out of my mouth when I spoke. But it’s all good because in light of the other guest speaker for the event, my topic of discussion felt quite…

Inspired by Monica and Ewa: Poncho Love & Link Up On the Edge #134
Happy Friday, my friends! I have to say I am getting seriously bored and frustrated with the Winter weather now. I’m cold and there is always snow on the ground. And at this point in the season, the snow is all mucky and black and splotchy and just plain old gross! Although just the other day, we did get a fresh new coating of clean snow…again. It will be all icky in a day or two. But complaining about the weather really is quite fruitless. It brings me no joy and it changes nothing. So I’ll stop there and move on to sharing with you another outfit inspired by some…

Love and Radical Kindness Win & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #111
I have heard this Carrie Underwood song at least 100 times, but I never actually listened to the words until the other day. I was flipping through television channels and landed on CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown and they aired the Love Wins video as the number 2 video on the countdown. The visuals caught my attention, drew me in, and I found myself really listening…and tearing up as I watched. Maybe it’s PMS getting me all emotional. Maybe it’s just life and all the crazy that exists in this world. Maybe it’s simply because truer lyrics have never been written, yet so many continue to disregard the message. Maybe it’s…
