Stepping Out of Summer: 20 of My Favorite Summer Outfits
As the Fall season is upon us and it is still way too hot in northern New York for my perimenopausal self to be donning the latest in autumnal fashions, I thought I would share a little roundup of some of my favorite summer outfits that never made it onto the blog. And if it is still scorching where you live, maybe you will find some late season inspiration as our summer fashion ideas are becoming stale. So to kick off September and the final days of summer…here are some of my favorites from this season! (I generally post my outfits daily on Instagram so if you follow me there,…

On the Edge of the Week Link Up #4 and Tee Shirt Giveaway
Today I am sharing with you a classic all-American summer look. Cut off distressed denim shorts, a plain white tee shirt, and footbed sandals. I feel like I stepped straight out of John Mellencamp’s 1980’s but with a modern twist. I just need a black moto jacket for cool summer nights and a pack of smokes! Ha. That’s where the modern vibe comes…no smokes! I am not going to go off on a smoking soap box. We all have our vices. No judgments coming from here. Outfit details: Tee: Old Navy Swing Tee Shorts: Target (Mossimo from last year) Sandals: Minnetonka from Famous Footwear (from last year) Belt:Walmart (from last…

Menstrual Cycle Mayhem
I don’t know about you all, but sometimes my menstrual cycle determines what clothes I am going to wear. Yes, I am going into this unspeakable realm of the female menses! When the flow starts and the misery sets in, all sorts of things make me crazy! At this perimenopausal stage of life that I am in, I have raging mood swings. Actually I shouldn’t even call them mood swings because there’s not too much swinging going on…it’s mostly all just rage. And it’s awful. I apologize to all who have to deal with me at this time of month…my husband, my children, my friends, even my pets fall victim…

Spring Favorite (and My Husband’s Favorite, Too): Tee Shirt Dress and Sneakers
I have been seeing a bunch of posts featuring the most adorable tee shirt dresses paired with sneakers. And I find myself repeatedly commenting how this is one of my favorite outfits for spring and summer. Then I realized I never wrote a post showing how wear this combination. So here is my post! I wore this outfit a few weeks ago to take the kids to a local event called “Touch a Truck.” A small nearby town hosted this fundraiser event where they set up all sorts of vehicles for children to climb through and explore. There were fire trucks, a dump truck, a garbage truck, a paramedic van,…

Scarves are My Thing
Before I started blogging and was researching the entire process, many of my resources were suggesting that I find my signature style and be able to precisely articulate it. This was very difficult for me because I really do not fit into a neat little precisely articulated package in fashion…or in anything really. I like preppy styles. I like vintage fashion. I like current trends. I like bohemian styles. I like throwback hippie clothes. I like chic and sophisticated looks. I like structured pieces. And I like loose flowing items as well. I like shoes. Literally all shoes. I like necklaces and wearing them alone or layered. I only recently…

One for the Playground and a Random Act of Kindness
Two weekends ago, my husband’s BFF, A., and I took his daughter and my boys to the park for a little autumn fun. There was the perfect amount of wind for kite-flying so we went to Carthage Park because they have a nice big open field up on a small hill. The kids were having a blast flying the kite until the kite got stuck in a tree. A very nice, albeit quite strange, older man (he was at the park with this 4 grandchildren), came to the rescue. He offered to climb the tree and retrieve the kite. I was shocked when he removed his shoes and climbed to…
