The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Lace
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A while back, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit. For this series, you can choose whether you want to share…

The Fab 40’s Celebrate Pride Month & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #128
Warning: I might get a little ranty in this post. I cannot help myself. It is a topic about which my passions run high. Very high. June is LGBT Pride Month, chosen this month to commemorate the Stonewall Riot in New York City on June 28, 1969. This June 28 marks 50 years since that riot which was the impetus for the LGBT rights movement that we see making a huge impact in the world today. It was my turn this month to choose the theme for The Fab 40’s. It didn’t take me long to decide. By choosing LGBT Pride not only are we showing you have to have…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Rompers, Jumpsuits, and Overalls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #125
It is that time again to share some of your favorite and least favorite items for June’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This month we are featuring Jumpsuits. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous when Nancy and I decided on this theme. I did not own a single jumpsuit. But I do have two pairs of overalls. So I am leaving this month’s theme open to interpretation, otherwise I will not have anything to share! But I did just find two adorable rompers this weekend that I am hoping to have photographed by the time we post the next edition on June 15. In any event, please share with…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Polka Dots & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #121
It is that time again to share some of your favorite and least favorite items for May’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This month we are featuring Polka Dots. I love a good polka dot print. I find them so fun and whimsical with a touch of nostalgia. Big or little, bold or subtle, polka dots just sort of bring smiles, don’t they? And they are perfect for mixing with other patterns like stripes and florals. Next week, Nancy and I will be posting the fifteenth edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! The theme for May is Polka Dots! Any polkas dot will do…they can be on pants or…

Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Long Cardigans
It is that time again to share some of your favorite and least favorite items for March’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. This month we are featuring long cardigans. I have a closet filled with cardigans of various lengths, but I definitely prefer a longer one that at least covers my bum. I appreciate the elongating effect of a duster length cardigan as well. So you may be wondering what constitutes a “long” cardigan”. I guess anything that goes past your bottom and beyond will do! In just 11 days, Nancy and I will be posting the thirteenth edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! The theme for…

The Mean Reds & Your Own Twist Link Up #5
“’You know those days when you get the means reds?’ ‘Same as the blues?’‘No,’ she said slowly. ‘No, the blues are because you’re getting fat or maybe it’s been raining too long. You’re sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. You’re afraid, and you sweat like hell, but you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Except something bad is going to happen, only you don’t know what it is. You’ve had that feeling?’‘Quite often. Some people call it angst.’‘All right. Angst. But what do you do about it?’‘Well, a drink helps.’ ‘I’ve tried that. I’ve tried aspirin, too. Rusty thinks I should smoke marijuana, I did for a while, but it…

With the arrival of a new year, so many of us focus on manifesting new and better versions of ourselves. What can we improve in our lives to be healthier, happier, and more productive? The Fab 40’s Take On the End of the World
I have this song stuck in my head… Released 31 years ago and it is still relevant. Although I suppose any apocalyptic prognostication is always befitting as we live in a world that tends to feed off of ominous predictions of a doomsday coming. However, I never was one to contemplate the end of the world coming in some grand disastrous event. After all, if and when it happens, there really is not much any of us will be able to do to counteract the result. And it seems that it has been a long time coming anyway. Just like life itself, from the moment we are born, we immediately…
