Styling a Kimono Into the Fall & Link Up On the Edge #59

Are any of you as obsessed with kimonos as I am? I seriously have a problem. At last count, there were 30 kimonos in various prints, solids, and lengths hanging in my closet. And I still cannot resist browsing through the kimonos any time I see them in a store. Oh, and when Charlotte Russe has a $15 kimono sale, forget it, I am in trouble! That’s where I scored this pretty floral one. For a mere $15.

Fall is upon us and the temperatures are cooling quickly and drastically. Don’t misunderstand me, I am not complaining. I always prefer the cooler weather over the heat and humidity. But I am not ready to pack in my lightweight airy kimonos for heavier knits and sweaters. So I am going to style them for as long as I can…until I start freezing in my flowy chiffon!

But I do love Fall hues, so of course, I am reaching more frequently for kimonos in autumnal tones and prints. Burgundies, blacks, blushes, and creams are on constant rotation right now. I love the print clash of a dark floral with leopard print for a cool weather feel. Add in a base of olive green and my signature knee high gladiator sandals and this kimono is ready to ride right into September with me.

“Look! A cicada shell!”

I am sure I will be layering these sheer garments over long sleeve dresses and long sleeve tees when the temperature drops another 10 or 15 degrees before I decide to pack them away in exchange for my duster cardigans. But until then, this kimono obsession of mine will continue into the Fall. You will probably see a few more on the blog in the next few weeks. I just can’t help myself.

What are your favorite summer wardrobe pieces that you just can’t let go? And how will you carry them into Fall?

Thanks so much for reading! I hope you are all enjoying these final days of summer. This is very much my favorite time of year as the weather cools but not too much.  And the sun sets a bit earlier but not too early. The mosquitoes start to disappear so I can enjoy my backyard.  And the kids go back to school! Momma will have some freedom in just a few short (maybe long) days!

Now onto your favorite posts from last week’s link up.

Second of all, she is one of the friendliest bloggers in blogland. And I did learn from her about this IG secret! It was something that had me quite confused until I read this post. If you are wondering what I am talking about, you will have to go read it for yourself!
