Polka Dots, Smoothie Bowls & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #32

What screams middle-aged granola-eating summertime hippie more than a polka dot maxi dress, a straw hat (featured in my post yesterday), rubber slides, and a smoothie bowl?

*This is not a sponsored post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  I am just spreading kindness while supporting local small businesses.

I don’t even know if that makes any sense. But as Rena would say…Fine. Whatever. I am wearing a polka dot maxi dress, my same old straw hat that I have worn nearly every day since it arrived, some comfy black slides, and I am talking about the new juice bar in town. Watertown’s newest food establishment, Atman Juice Bar & Cafe, has just opened its doors downtown on the Square and it is a very welcomed site!

Meet Erica, the owner of Atman Juice Bar & Cafe. She is also the owner of Vigilante Yoga which is situated directly next door to the juice bar with a connecting entrance between the two businesses. It is the perfect set up, in my opinion. Yoga followed by a healthy snack. You can’t go wrong if you are looking for a healthy, energizing, and fun activity in the Watertown, New York area.

So let me just tell you where Erica ranks on the scale of Badass Women in Business. (Yes, I just made that up…but I think it should be a thing.) She is at the top of the list! She is already running the yoga studio. Then she launches a brand new business and hosts the grand opening 3 weeks before her baby is due! This woman rocks. On so many levels. And she manages to look just that amazing (see above photo)!

Now here’s where I take you inside the cafe to have a sneak peek at the menu and the
inviting atmosphere. It is very welcoming and bright with soft light flooding in from the windows that look out onto the downtown Square. The decor is minimalist which is perfectly suited for a cafe specializing in healthy food and juices. Fresh fruits fill the wooden bins that line the wall beneath the chalkboard menus.  The brightly colored crops sit patiently awaiting their turn to be made into delicious concoctions of sweet and rich textures that are so alluring to any palette.

Now I want to introduce you to the lovely ladies behind the bar, Lorin and Alisha, who so effortlessly take orders and start whisking all of these amazing ingredients into the blender. Then they present you with the most colorful, healthy, delicious snacks you can imagine! And always with great big beautiful smiles on their faces!

I ordered The Monkey Bowl and let me tell you this…

“it is quite possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten. It’s like dessert for lunch but super healthy. Creamy and rich, it is a culinary work of art. And it is very filling which has pleasantly surprised me.” (Directly quoted from my own review of Atman Juice Bar & Cafe on Facebook.

You can read more reviews from many other very satisfied customers here.

The Monkey Bowl is a combination of bananas, almond milk, peanut butter, and cacao powder. I opted for oats, protein powder, and chia seeds with bananas, granola, and peanut butter drizzle on top.

My new friend, Tricia, (stay tuned for more about her because she will be featured in an upcoming #SpreadTheKindness post), ordered the Lakshmi “Beets” juice which is a combination of red cabbage, beet root, carrot, cucumber, orange, lime, and ginger. Look how beautiful it is…and the taste was remarkably tangy and sweet with the lingering zest of ginger at the end.

My only complaint is that the chia seeds (or perhaps it was the protein powder) gave me a serious case of the farts! As chia seeds and protein powder will often do. On a positive note, they were the kind of farts that felt ever so good when released! Like good, healthy farts. The kind where you feel the bubbles grow, then you get a quick relief as they ease out quietly from behind. Better out than in, as my grandmother always said.  (Just keeping it real, my friends.)

So if you are looking for a healthy, fruity, refeshing, rich, and tasty snack with a possible side of gas, Atman Juice Bar & Cafe is the place to go! And every ounce of deliciousness that passed my lips was worth every unit of wind that passed my derriere!
