Only Time Will Tell: Jord Watches for the Holidays

Recently on the blog, I talked about how we can achieve The Perfect Life. That post got me thinking about ideas such as life as a journey, living in the present moment, and the inevitable passing of time. Time is a very strange concept, isn’t it? Sometimes, it feels as if it passes us by too quickly. Other times, it seems as if it is standing still. But it is always moving at the same rate of speed that it always does. So what causes this weird sensation of time moving at different rates of speed and very often at an extremely uncomfortable pace?

*This is a sponsored post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

When we are younger, we want to grow up so quickly and yet it seems as if we never get there. Time moving with the briskness of a snail. Then suddenly, in the blink of an eye, we wake up and we are not only grown up with adult responsibilities and obligations, but we suddenly feel old. Like today when I used the phrase “like nails on a chalkboard” and my 6 year old asked me, “Mommy, what is a chalkboard?” It makes us wonder “Where did the time go?” A time when we all knew what a chalkboard was? A time when we didn’t have children of our own to question these things?

I remember a time long ago when I asked my mother those life questions that we all contemplate as teenagers and young adults. Questions much deeper than “What is a chalkboard?” And I remember her all too frequent response of “Only time will tell, my dear.” Although I did not quite comprehend the meaning of her answer, I still found comfort and solace in the concept of time telling me things that I did not yet know. So I waited. Impatiently, I must add. I waited for time to tell me the answers that I sought.

Then suddenly, like a flash of lightning, I have so many answers that I craved. What amazing things time has told me over the course of my life. Fabulous things. Frightening things. Confusing things. Wonderful things. Time has brought endings that I never wanted. But it also has brought conclusions that I prayed for. It has caused heartache and it has healed many wounds. It has brought experiences that have left me with scars and struggles that have left me with wisdom. And yet there is so much more for time to disclose. So I continue to wait, with an open heart and an open mind, for all of those little life’s lessons to come way, for all that time has to tell me.  At this stage of my life, I embrace time more than anything and I appreciate it and all of its wonders.

While I have grown to appreciate the enigma that is time, I have also grown to appreciate the artistry of a beautiful quality time piece to keep me informed of what has passed and what is to come.
