Monochromatic Marsala and a “Stolen” Sweater

Maybe I’m strange, but most articles of clothing in my wardrobe have a story behind how I acquired them. I usually know where I purchased each item and how much I paid for them. And if I got the item for a “steal” (pun absolutely intended), you better believe that I’m going to tell you about it! I get very exited if I receive a compliment on a piece of clothing that I only paid a few dollars for. And I feel compelled to let the unsuspecting compliment-giver know exactly how much it cost!

The story behind this monochromatic outfit is kind of funny. I was shopping with my friend E. at Kohl’s one night rather late (our local Kohl’s is open until 11:00 p.m., which is a great time to shop…it’s very quiet). We were trying on clothes in adjacent fitting rooms and we were getting that kind of silly you get when the tired starts to take over.

I had these marsala leggings on and E. had on this sparkly space dyed marsala sweater. The sweater was on clearance for $4 and we had 20% coupons. She showed me the sweater and it was totally cute on her and she was going to purchase it, but then I realized that it matched my leggings perfectly. I asked her if I could try it on before she bought it. She obliged and it was amazing with my leggings. So I totally stole it from her! Just to be clear, I did not steal it from Kohl’s! I paid the $3.20 for the sweater plus the $8 for the leggings and so was born this monochromatic marsala outfit perfectly on trend for this Fall!

I suppose E. can borrow the sweater if she would like! I mean, that’s what friends are for, right? Haha! Thanks, E. I love my new outfit, all for $11.20!

Do you also have an amazing friend who would give up such a great deal for you? How about some funny stories behind your clothing? And what do you think of the monochromatic look? Please do share your stories in the comments!
