Merry Christmas & Joyous Everything

I recently won a raffle for a family photo session with the brilliant and ever so talented Sarissa Melissa Photography. Seeing as Melissa already has taken many amazing photos for me (you can see those here, here, here, here, and here), I was so thrilled for the opportunity to bring my family into her studio! As usual, she did not disappoint! Keep in mind, my children were absolute uncooperative beasts during this session. So Melissa definitely worked some kind of Christmas magic to produce these fabulous images!

We are definitely a family with a sense of humor. And you all know I like to keep things real and authentic. So picture perfect images were definitely not my goal. Each one of us should embrace our genuine selves, quirks and all. And I very much wanted to portray who we are and the actual dynamic within our family unit.

We are loving and kind to each other and those around us. We play pranks on one another. We tease. Probably too much. We are independent-minded and very stubborn. Yes, all four of us has a very stubborn streak, the littlest one being the stubbornest of all. But somehow, despite that, we are all very easy-going and adapt quickly to new situations and big changes. I guess that just comes with the territory of military life. And we laugh. All the time.

So when Melissa asked, “Can we please do something silly and fun and goofy?” I naturally responded, “Duh. Of course we can!” So we donned our best Christmas attire sprinkled with accents of camoflauge…because Army. It effects our every holiday! And we marched through the North Country freezing snow with a bucket of fake snowballs to the Sarissa Melissa Photography studio in the historic Watertown Masonic Temple. And Melissa brilliantly captured our family shenanigans and indoor snowball fight in these images.

On that note, I am sending wishes of Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Blessed New Year, and Joyous Everything from my family to yours. Remember to enjoy each other every day with gratitude and love. And don’t forget…when it snows, throw snowballs!
