Little Bits of Inspiration #11 & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #12

I have completely dropped the ball on my monthly series where I highlight 5 blog posts or articles that have inspired me. I was trying to publish them on the first Saturday of every month, but it just has not been happening. I have no excuses…except for…well, life. And everything it keeps throwing at me. And sometimes just plain old unadulterated laziness gets in my way, too. Anyway, I figured it’s my blog and I don’t have to stick to some strict self-imposed schedule if I don’t want to…so now is as a good time as any to bring my Little Bits of Inspiration back to life and share with you all 5 posts that have inspired me recently. And what better way to #SpreadTheKindness anyway since today is Tuesday and it is my self-proclaimed #SpreadTheKindness Link Up Day.

1. Diane of Fashion on the 4th Floor teamed up with Sherry of Petite Over 40 in a blogger collaboration that shows us that we all struggle with body image issues especially in our 40’s but if we push ourselves outside of our comfort zones, fabulous things can happen! Both of these amazing ladies wrote thought-provoking and very inspiring posts that are must-reads for any woman in her 40’s and beyond!

In Diane’s post, Are We Oscar Worthy?, she discusses being open to self-improvement and pushing through your own self-imposed boundaries. I was seriously moved and motivated by this post.

And in Sherry’s post, The Dress that Made Me Feel Like a Star, she shares her inspirational weight loss journey and the emotional story of how she has come to terms with her new body and settled a “dispute” with an old dress. Another thought-provoking, inspiring, and motivating message.

2. Brooke and Erica of Pumps and Pushups shared these tips back in January for how to Reward Yourself With Love. They provided some budget- and health-friendly ways to give yourself that needed on pat on the back while staying on track with your 2017 goals. I think the end of February is a great time to re-read their message and reward yourself!

3. Katy of The Queen of Kings inspired me with a post back in January called You Can’t Win Them All… where she talked about the heartbreak we feel as we watch our children experience disappointments. But she also discussed the importance in allowing our children to feel disappointment so we can better shape them into hard-working, compassionate, deserving, and grateful adults. Watching our children grow up is so, so hard and this post is so worth reading.

But when I hopped over to Katy’s blog to grab the link to that post, her most recent post, Watch Me, Momma…, also grabbed my attention. It is another heartfelt perspective on watching our children grow. And it was a perspective that I really needed right now. So, thank you for that, Katy.

4. Donna of yadadarcyyada: Vague Meanderings of the Broke and Obscure is such a poignant and thought-provoking writer. She is always on point with a hot topic issue, always provides you with a good hearty laugh, and always, always stimulates you into thinking abut some important stuff…and even sometimes viewing it all from a different perspective. Her post Compassion Never Goes Out of Style is an old one (from 2015), but it is a great one. And I often go back to read it just as a reminder. It’s worth it. So you should probably go read it, too.

5. Liz of Lizzie in Lace wrote a post recently called The Comparison Trap. Liz emphasizes the importance of being comfortable and confident in yourself and refraining from comparing yourself to others…to the way they look, how much success they have, what the wear, etc. This is such an important message for all of us…bloggers or not. Comparing ourselves to others only makes us come up short in our own minds. Knowing that you are enough really is enough.

I hope you all enjoy these little bits of inspiration!

Thanks to everyone who joins my #SpreadTheKindness movement every week. I really appreciate your continued support! And your favorites from last week…

Susan of Over 50 Under 20 shared some amazing Shopping Tips inspired by another fabulous blogger who has previously been featured in my link ups…Julia of When the Girls Rule. These are some really helpful tips especially the last one…

“SIXTH, and most important, when you’re in the dressing room and you try on something that doesn’t work, repeat to yourself, ‘It’s not me. It’s the clothes.’”

Linda of A Labour of Life shows in her very own adorable way that you can wear whatever the heck you want at any age in her post Fashion Over 50 with Pom Poms and Fur.

Now onto the link up! Start spreading some kindness!
