Introducing Little Valkyrie Designs to Shelbee’s Shoppe

Little Valkyrie Designs: Clothing for warriors, not princesses!

I am so excited to announce that Shelbee’s Shoppe is now carrying a line of handmade circle skirts for girls! I have partnered with one of my nearest, dearest, and oldest friends, Jane, who is an amazing seamstress and has been inspired to create a line of fun and whimsical skirts for the little girl who identifies more with a warrior than with a princess!

Hunter Camouflage Circle Skirt

Valkyrie (left), 2.5 years old and Kiana (right), 5 years old.
Both are wearing the same “one-size-fits” 2T-6 preschooler skirt (9″ length from waist to hem).
Valkyrie is 35″ tall and Kiana is 44″ tall.
Waistband stretches from 19-25″, and may fit 24 months up to size 6X-7.

About Little Valkyrie Designs (From Jane’s mouth to my shop):

“As a mom, I understand the frustration of buying an item of clothing only to have your child grow out of it in a few months. I also understand the frustration of trying to find cute clothes for a little girl that aren’t pink and covered in princesses!

When my daughter, Valkyrie Rose, refused to wear a frilly pink sweater and instead insisted on “ROBOTS” like her brother had on his t-shirt, I had an idea. I made her a skirt out of robot-print fabric and she loved it.

While designing the skirt patterns, I realized something. Most skirts and leggings made by major children’s clothing manufacturers are cut to fit one size only. They use snug elastic and the minimum amount of fabric. With this in mind, I decided to design clothes that would fit as long as possible by using more fabric and better-quality elastic.  This means if you buy a classic circle skirt for a 2-year-old, it may fit her for five years!”

About the products:

The “one-size” skirt. This classic circle skirt is 9″ long from waist to hem (7″ length coming soon) and uses super-stretchy pajama elastic to allow it to fit a broad range of sizes. The waist expands from 18.5″ all the way to 26″, which is recommended for size 2T-6, but may fit 24 months up to 6x or 7.

The 9″ long circle skirt falls a few inches below the knee on most 2-year-olds, and an inch or so above the knee on most 6-year-olds. We recommend wearing leggings or shorts under the circle skirts for maximum comfort (multi-sized shorts and leggings coming soon).

  3. Oh where were these when Eve was little?? 🙂 sadly, my baby girl is now far too much of a warrior woman to wear these darling confections. Good on you, Shelbee, for adding a new category to your store xoxo

    • Thanks so much, Sheela! Eve is absolutely a warrior woman! I think when Eve was little, Jane was probably creating warrior women’s clothes and not little warrior confections…her passion for little warriors did not come until her most amazing creation, the real Little Valkyrie!

      xoxo
