How To Add Accessories to Your Outfit: Tips For Beginners

Are you a beginner when it comes to wearing accessories? Some people are afraid of doing it the wrong way and looking silly. But accessorizing an outfit can be quite easy and it elevates your style to an entirely new level.

For example, say you have just bought an expensive ring or necklace and you would love to show it off. So you put together your outfit and slip on your new accessory, but for some reason it looks awful. Don’t worry! It is natural to feel a little outside of your comfort zone if it is the first time you are donning a fancy accessory or if you do not accessorize often.

Just like anything in fashion and style, there is an art to wearing your accessories without looking awkward or uncomfortable. In this post, I am going to share a few quick and easy tips to help you out if accessorizing is new to your fashion game.

This is an example of bold layered necklaces with a neutral outfit.

Don’t Overdo It

The first tip is to limit the number of accessories you are wearing at one time. Start with a single ring, a necklace, or a pair of earrings. Don’t wear a ring on each finger or try to layer four necklaces at first. Keeping it simple as a beginner is the best way to get comfortable with accessorizing. Then you can build from there.

If Your Outfit is Bold, Keep Your Accessories Minimal

If you have chosen to wear a striking outfit that showcases bright colors and bold designs, pairing it with simplistic accessories is the best idea. You want your accessories to complement your out, not compete with it.

If Your Outfit is Minimalist, Bold Accessories Work Well

If your outfit is simple and made up of neutral colors and no prints or patterns, adding a piece of statement jewelry will make a huge impact on the overall appearance of your outfit. This is when bold accessories will stand out and complement your outfit without competing with it.

Silver is Softer and Easier to Wear

When deciding on a metal in your jewelry choices, know that silver is a neutral color and it pairs nicely with almost every color in the color wheel. Therefore, it will complement many outfit choices, making it much easier to add to your jewelry game.

Gold is a Harsher Color, But Still Looks Great

On the other hand, gold can be a little more difficult to incorporate for novices. It does not pair as nicely with certain color palettes. But paired with the right outfit, gold jewelry can make quite a statement. Check out some of these gold chain designs to find the right one for you.
