A Beautiful Paradox: Graffiti & Lace with Rosegal

There is just something about paradox that draws me in. It creates an aesthetic appeal in the sartorial realm. It forms the basis of irony in the lingual world. Two of my favorite areas combined in my blog space…fashion and words.

I have long been fascinated by the combination of feminine lace details combined with the edgier feel of distressed denim. And there is something about white lace that radiates purity and innocence. But juxtapose it with the toughness implied by ripped jeans and place it against a shabby urban background detailed with bad graffiti and neglected paint and I think you have a beautiful ambiguity of opposing details.

Jeans: Torrid Girlfriend Jeans.

The ultimate contrast of opposites has always been the combination of black and white. It is the timeless parallel of all saturated color placed against no color at all. Then add in a dash of the brightest red and it is the most striking color combination to the human eye. The appeal, however, is in the details. Polka dots, lace, torn denim, floral embroidery. It is all of my favorite things combined into one single photoshoot.

And the greatest paradox of all happened this weekend. This girl, right here, the one who loves to use words for every purpose. The girl who can talk endlessly on any multitude of subjects. For hours and hours and hours on end. Until my voice goes hoarse. This girl has lost her voice…completely. There is nothing but a mere, very strained whisper that will come forth with the greatest of effort. And it is driving me quite crazy.

Jacket: Old Navy. Alternative option here.

Although my actual voice has been silenced for the time being, I still have many things to say. So I guess this week I will sit in my muteness and ponder my next topic for discussion. And I will let the words trickle through my fingers until I can speak again.

Boots: Charlotte Russe Rose Embroidered Ankle Booties.

What are some of your favorite paradoxes?  Words, clothing, actions…it could be a paradox of any sort. I would love to hear.
