GlobeIn Collaboration: Hydrate Box Review

When I was first contacted by GlobeIn (via my MOMS Club) about a collaboration, I have to admit that I had never heard of the company and had to first conduct some research before considering the offer. But what I found totally impressed me and I was completely on board.

GlobeIn is a company dedicated to supporting artisans from around the world and especially those in third world countries. It is their mission to provide these artisans with a global audience so they can make a living producing their handcrafted goods. The end result of purchasing goods from GlobeIn is the reduction of poverty in these countries. In addition, all organizations that work with GlobeIn operate under fair trade principles.

If you shop the products offered, you will find amazing handcrafted items that make perfect gifts at reasonable prices. You can purchase individual pieces like this gorgeous Wood Travel Cutting Board handcrafted in India or this adorable Picnic Blanket hand made in Cambodia from soft checkered fabric and durable upcycled material.

GlobeIn also offers a monthly subscription for their Artisan Boxes. Each month they choose a theme and create a box filled with wonderful artisan items to make you feel connected with other cultures from around the world. I asked their marketing representative to choose whichever Artisan Box she wanted for me to review. And within a few days, I received their May theme Hydrate Box which emphasizes hydration and water as earth’s ultimate elixir.

My Hydrate Box included these 5 amazing items:

1. An adorable Upcycled Tote Bag from Ghana. I have used my tote to carry snacks and drinks with me and the kids to the Splash Park and it kept all of our goodies nice and cool. It is also crafted out of upcycled plastic so it contained any condensation from our drinks from leaking outside of the bag. It was super easy to wipe clean and hang over a chair to dry. It also zips into a small little rectangle making it so convenient to store or carry with me in the event that I may need a tote bag!

2. A very cool Hand Blown Glass from Mexico. I have not decided yet if I am going to use the glass for drinking or as a vase. I have plenty of drinking glasses, so most likely this gorgeous hand blown glass is going to be used to display a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers! The glass is a nice size, too, holding up to 17 ounces of liquid.

3. A 3.4 ounce tube of Conscious Coconut Oil. Each purchase of this coconut oil provides a meal for a child in addition to employing developmentally disabled adults in its production and packaging. I have used the oil as a moisturizer for my legs. Once the oily feeling wore off, my legs felt like silk! Read more about the production and uses of this fabulous product at the link above.

4. A stick of Organic Lemongrass Lip Balm from Zambia. Made from all organic ingredients of beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, lanolin, lemongrass oil, peppermint oil, rosemary oil, and vitamin E, it has seriously saved my lips from their usual chapping which happens all year long. I have been using it daily and I absolutely love it!

5. The GlobeIn Signature Handwoven Basket from Mexico. I received a purple and tan basket with a very cute chevron pattern in the weave. The basket is a very generous size for countertop storage (I am currently housing my hair brushes in it). It measures 6 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall.

I know many bloggers use subscription services for clothing purchases, but do any of you have subscriptions to artisan or gift box purchases like these? Would you consider such a monthly subscription or are you more likely to purchase individual artisan pieces? I would love to hear in the comments!
