Give Yourself a Boost & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #56

Female breasts are amazing things, aren’t they? They torment us at puberty in one way or another. They grow too fast making us the center of unwanted attention. Or they don’t grow quick enough making us envious of those lucky girls who get them early. As we begin menstruation and the inevitable PMS begins to wreak havoc on our bodies, they can become tender and cause us pain. As we become sexually active beings, our breasts become the objects of desire for our male (as well as female) counterparts. When we enter our child-bearing years and begin having children, they become the source of nourishment for our babies. In our menopausal years, we begin to witness dramatic changes in our breasts. But throughout our lives, our breasts carry a lot of power…from providing nourishment to feeding sexual desires, from being a source of sexual stimulation to sadly and all too often having the ability to claim lives. They are a part of us for our entire lives and they deserve to be treated well.

*This is not a sponsored post.  As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Throughout the course of our lives, our breasts undergo a multitude of changes. They change in size and density. They change in purpose and usefulness. Our bra sizes will continue to fluctuate with weight changes throughout our entire existence. And if you have been blessed (I use that term lightly) with larger breasts, you may have spent most of your life searching for the perfect ways to support them in comfort and style.

I want to briefly share my personal breast story with you. In my post-puberty years, my bra size settled around a 34C. I was a competitive swimmer with lots of body tone and while my breasts were bigger than most of my friends, they were still perky and firm. Then in my late 20’s, as I headed down that landslide of Bipolar Disorder and found myself 80 pounds heavier from psychotropic medications, my bra size went up to a 42DDD. Finding my way to recovery, stopping the medications, and losing some of that weight, I found I needed a size 38DDD. I continued purchasing my bras off the racks from major retailers, but was never ever comfortable. Finally after having my children and realizing that my breasts had settled into a somewhat consistent size, I was properly measured and, much to my dismay, discovered that my bra size was a 38H. For the first time ever, I invested in quality bras in the correct size. This seriously changed my life. I had finally found the right support in the correct size that was comfortable and stylish. And my clothing suddenly fit much better as well. But one thing that was missing in my life was comfortable and supportive loungewear that was attractive for those moments at home when I didn’t want to wear a bra.

I am definitely one of those women who removes my bra as soon as the day is done. I have tried countless items for lounging around my house from bralettes to sports bras to tank tops with built-in bra shelves. None of these provided adequate support as my breasts literally just billowed out the top or swung low right to my belly button. And then in October, I met Sandra Mimran Smith and she introduced me to her amazing new product Boost which is a “new line of loungewear for young girls and women who are full chested with small frames.” Each piece has “built-in support without constraint or compression.” The garments are crafted from “jersey-soft fabrics that caress and hold” as well as provide “shape and lift with full adjustability when you need it and a more relaxed setting when you don’t.”

If you remember my post from December, Big Boobs in the City, I was fortunate enough to be a model for Sandra’s new advertising campaign for Boost. You can read all about that experience in the post. But today, I want to talk about the product itself.

If you are interested in Sandra’s personal story and how she came to create this amazing product, you can watch this very informative video.

I have the nightie in black and it is seriously the softest jersey fabric I have ever felt. The front adjusting straps are so easy to adjust without reaching and straining or asking my husband for help. The nightie also has a built in bra closure in the back to get the correct size for your frame but without the constraining tight feeling that often comes with an actual bra. For size reference, I wear a bra size of 38H and size 14 pants…and the XXL was the perfect fit in the Boost Nightie. I cannot say enough great things about this product. It has been a bit chilly around here lately so I haven’t been able to wear it much. But when I do, I just add some over the knee socks and a cozy cardigan and I am completely lounge ready with a glass of my favorite moscato, feeling cute, comfortable, and completely supported.

So if you are a large breasted woman with a smaller frame and are in search of some fabulous loungewear that is supportive and stylish, you must check out Boost products. Currently available are the nightie and the cami and shorts set. Both come in three colors. Currently in production with limited availability is the tank top in black. Sandra has generously offered my readers a promo code for 10% OFF your tank top purchase. Due to limited availability on this piece, she just asks that you first email info@boostwr.com to confirm if your size is still in stock. Then use code Happy18 at checkout.

Suzy, thanks so much for reading! I don’t think it is unfortunate at all that you are a 34B! Isn’t it funny how we can be so unhappy with what we are given? Women with big boobs want smaller ones and women with small boobs want bigger ones! We should just be happy with the boobs we’ve got, I suppose! In any even, this product is so amazing and I am so happy to have been introduced to it! I hope you are having a fabulous week, my friend!

Kathrine, thank you so much! It was a little intimidating doing photos in lingerie, but there it is and I am so glad that I did…this line is amazing and I just have to share about it! I hope you are having a fabulous week so far.

I do believe we should always take care of ourselves and that includes every body part. For today’s purposes, breasts. Thank you for sharing your story and it is empowering and enlightening to hear someone else’s journey because our challenges and struggles are different. I think these products are great and agree 100% that we always should be comfortable and feel our best. Happy Tuesday Shelbee! I hope you are having a great start to your week so far.

Maureen, thank you so much! I agree completely that we must treat every part of ourselves in the best possible way. I had neglected my boob comfort for way too long! What a huge difference the proper support makes for every part of the day from work wear to loungewear. I hope you are having a fabulous week so far!

Finding the right size bra makes all the difference! I have had huge breasts all my life much to my dismay. In college I had a breast reduction and for awhile I was thrilled to have normal size breasts and be able to wear cute bras and tops. Fast forward to two pregnancies where I gained over 60 pounds each time and BAM! They’re back! When I tell people what size bra I wear they don’t believe me but when you are properly measured it’s amazing how much larger your actual cup size is! I need to check out this line, it would be nice to have a nightie with support. I always wear an exercise bra to bed!

Kellyann, thank you so much for sharing your personal breast story here! I feel like we all too often get embarrassed talking about these things…but these are our bodies and they go through a multitude of changes throughout our lives and it is so nice to have a community where we can discuss these issues. Personally, I don’t like to sleep with any type of bra on, but then my breasts sometimes get very tender which can become annoying during sleep. This nightie is so amazing to sleep in. It gives just the right amount of support that is comfortable but not confining. I really can’t rave about it enough. I need to get the shorts and cami set as well as the tank top. I just love this line so much! I hope you are having a wonderful week so far, my friend.

I am the total opposite of you girls. (and have never really cared) I knew if my top was bigger, I’d look bigger all over. I swear I’d never guess to look at either of you that your sizes are what they are. (Kellyann, not that you shared your actual size) I will say that having smaller breasts is challenging as well to find bras to fit and now I’m going through the same thing with my daughter. I’m a 34A and she’s a 36A and both sizes are hard to come by. This line of support wear looks like a major win for you girls who are more “well endowed” 😉 Shelbee, I think it’s so great that you got to participate in this campaign and are willing to share with other ladies. Y’all are both beautiful and it shows inside and out. Here’s to ta-ta’s of every shape and size. AND…thank you so much for picking me this week. I feel so special❤️. Have a great week sweet friends! XO

I agree, Laura! And this product is so amazing! The fabric is so soft and super easy to move around in. And I love that I can just layer it up when I am cold. It is going to be a fantastic piece, for sure, when it gets warm out. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous week!

Fortunately, or unfortunately, breasts have never been much of an issue for me except when I was breastfeeding! I just never had any breasts to speak of! I did have some added after nursing 3 babies because I felt like I had saggy little mosquito bites! I’m still only a 34Cish. Your posts are always informative and entertaining! Thanks so much for the link up!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Suzanne, thank you so much for sharing your personal breast story here! I love that we are unafraid to talk about these topics that were once so taboo. And I find nothing unfortunate about the size of any woman’s breasts whether they be large or small. They are ours and we should just be proud of them and the purpose they serve! Have a fabulous day, my friend.

You really do a great job modeling lingerie, I am not very ‘gifted’ in that department, but I still like to have some fun and functional pieces in my wardrobe! I love your blog, you always have so many great topics and a lot covers women topics, such as lingerie, aging (you’re my age, so I typically have a lot of the same thoughts as you!), fashion and just a good mix of posts. 🙂 You look great!!!

It also helped that I had my best friend of nearly 30 years right there modeling beside me. I am so glad that you enjoyed this post and my blog. breasts are a fascinating topic – we don’t realize how many changes we go through in life with them, but I suppose the most important thing is to accept and love them no matter what. Thanks for sharing your story with us, Shelbee! xx

I didn’t get measured until after having my daughter…and not suprisingly I was wearing the wrong size bra! This range of loungewear looks fab. I can tell from the photos that the material is super soft. I’m very fussy about my nightwear and loungewear – I can’t abide anything constricting or stiff material. I always wear jersey vests and PJ bottoms in bed, and I even wear socks and a cardigan when it’s really cold! Such a passion killer 😉

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Emma, thank you so much for sharing your personal story here! Isn’t it crazy how long we live wearing the wrong bra size?! It is such a necessary piece of clothing as it can make or break everything else we wear if it doesn’t fit properly. Yet, so many of us neglect it for so long! And I hear you on the soft comfy jammies…that’s totally my jam, too! (Ha. See what I did there?) And being cute and cozy in your loungewear is in no way a passion killer in my opinion. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Trina, thanks for sharing your personal boob story with me! I love that we are breaking down barriers and discussing these topics openly. And I swear by the support in this nightie. My boobs are incredibly heavy and I was doubtful that anything other than a heavy duty underwire bra could hold them up, but Boost does exactly that without the confining! It is such an amazing product!

Shelbee, excellent post! You and I are “bosom” sisters in this arena and this is the first product that I’ve seen a blogger share that I’m truly interested in buying because it something I’ve searched for for a long time. I’m especially interested in the cami top and the possibility of wearing it not just as loungewear. Thank you for sharing this fantastic product and for the link up.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Rena, thank you so much! I cannot rave enough about this product, for real. My breasts are very dense and therefore quite heavy in weight. I was very skeptical that this product would provide any more support than an ordinary sports bra. I was happily surprised that I felt securely held in all night long but super comfortable without feeling that confinement that a bra often causes. Sandra really did her research in the development of the support system in her pieces. I really want the tank and the cami set as well!

I feel really uncomfortable with common bras (maybe with the exception of some athletic ones), so now I just wear tank tops. I feel it´s really important to share information that can make our lives a little bit easier. There´s a proper boost for every woman!
