Easy Like Saturday Morning

Yesterday morning, I decided I was not leaving my house and would get caught up on some blogging work. So I wanted to be comfortable but still feel like I was dressed. I recently found these adorable olive green shorts on clearance at Old Navy for around $10. And I have worn them 3 times in the past week for just lounging around. They literally feel like pajama shorts with an elastic, drawstring waist and loose fit through the thighs. I decided to pair them with a plain black tee and my black Madden Girl footbed sandals that I got last summer. It got a little chilly later in the day so I just threw this cream waterfall cardigan on top.

Outfit details:
Tee shirt: Old Navy (from last year)
Shorts: Old Navy Cuffed Linen Shorts in Olive Combo (online sale price $11.50)
Cardigan: Target (from last year)
Necklaces: Kohl’s (old)
Sandals: Madden Girl from DSW (from last year)

I wasn’t sure if I should even write a post about this simple, easy, casual, lazy weekend outfit, but then my husband told me how much he liked it. And if the husband thinks its cute, then I guess it has something! Plus, we can’t all dress to the nines every single day and sometimes a little casual inspiration is needed. So there you have it. Easy breezy lazy Saturday outfit. I sat at the computer most of the day and went for a nice long walk with the kids just before dinner. I didn’t even feel the need to change into jammies until bedtime (I usually put my jammies on around 6:00)!

I hope you all had a relaxing and productive weekend! Here’s to a fabulous upcoming week!

What is your favorite easy, comfortable, stay at home outfit? I’d love to hear from you! Thanks for reading.

Taking it easy on the edge,

  1. I love this outfit and the title of your post! I always feel like I have to have something really special on to do a post about it, but that just isn’t real life, so I am glad you took your husband’s advice! I hope you have a fantastic week!

    • Thank you for that validation, Katie! It is real life to have lazy casual days and still want to look cute, too. And I guess we all need a little inspiration even for those days, right? Thanks for visiting!

    • Best sandals ever, Erica! It is so true about husband’s comments, too! My husband will always compliment, but when the compliment comes long after I have changed into jammies…that means it was a memorable outfit, I suppose. I had to go with it! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  8. I think you’re right about “getting dressed” even when you’re not leaving the house! It’s good to make the effort —just in case someone stops by or you have to run out!! But even if those things don’t happen, I do think it affects you & your mood also!
I still haven’t embraced the Birkenstock trend—are they really that more comfy?

    • Jodie, it is so true that mood improves with how you present yourself even if it is only presenting TO yourself! And yes, the footbed sandals are super comfortable. Actually, my favorite, most comfortable pair are leopard print ones with the double cross strap that I got at Payless last year for $4! I don’t think you need to spend the Birkenstock prices to get the comfort. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. I LOVE this post!! The fact that you actually made an effort, even though you weren’t going anywhere is just brilliant. I’m currently sitting here in my yoga gear (that I’ve been wearing all day since doing yoga at home this morning lol – you never know when you want to hop on up and do a bit more yoga, right?). But I ought to be more like you and actually wear something that is not only comfortable to wear at home, but something that you can actually be photographed in. You look great! The waterfall cardigan is a great touch too.

    • Suzy, thank you so much for those sweet words. I seriously have trained myself over the years that I need to be dressed in order to be productive. I went through some very long many years of bipolar depression and I had a genius therapist tell me that if my inside feels out of control that I need to control my outside (i.e., my living space and my appearance). Eventually, the inside would start to reflect the outside. And it worked! So I have stuck with it years after I have put the bipolar and depression behind me. It keeps the bounce in my step, for sure! Thanks for reading.

    • Definitely, Erica. If I stay in jammies, I can’t function. I only have jammie days if I am really ill. Otherwise, this girl is always dressed!

  14. Cute, casual look! Those shorts are a great color and look so comfortable. I really like the addition of your cardigan, too.

    • Thank you, Jennie! It actually ended up being too warm for that cardigan and I switched to a lighter weight black one. I never took pictures of that one though. I wish I had because it was a totally different look. Thanks for stopping by!

  15. Kudos to you for getting nicely dressed even though you stayed home !

    • Thank you, Lorena! I feel like I can’t be productive unless I get dressed nicely. It comes from years of therapy and training myself to look good even when I don’t feel well. Now it’s just habit! Thanks for stopping by!

  20. Very cute digital goddess look!
I have a huge inventory of lounge pants that I scored from the sample box at work (I work for a company that makes mass market loungewear and underwear). The grey ones in my Sunday Grey post are from work. I wear rather schlubby stuff at home — I don’t want to get my “good” clothes dirty from my domestic/ creative activities. When it gets hot, I wear a huipil (Mexican tunic) which is a little more fancy.
Thanks for adding a link to 52 Pick-me-up — 3 neutrals in one outfit — score!

    • Anne, those gray pants are awesome! A whole inventory of lounge pants! You can’t go wrong there. If it gets too hot, I for sure can’t stand shorts because my legs stick together or to the chair. Ugh. Awful. So loose loungy pants are my jam…all the way! And I have two small boys at home all day, so all my clothes get mussed and I exist in a heap of dirty laundry! Thanks for stopping by!

  21. Anytime a husband thinks lounge wear is cute it needs to be documented! Super cute shorts! I love having lounge pieces that you can answer the door in and not look like you are in your pajamas! Nice find!
