Bright Stripes and a Puffer Vest

I received a text message on Friday from my friend A. that Old Navy was having their great fall haul sale and had puffer vests for $15. Now A. is a big fan of puffer vests, but I am not so much. While I think they look super cute on her and on most women I see wearing them, I think they make me look sort of, well…puffy. But, for $15, I thought I would give a puffer vest a try.

I happened to run into A. when I made my quick puffer vest stop at Old Navy. I’m glad I did because I couldn’t decide which of the many colors to choose. So I chose the only color that A. did not already have…the winter white (or crème de la crème, as Old Navy calls it). And much to my pleasure, Saturday presented an opportunity to style my new crème de la creme puffer vest.

It was cool and windy and I was headed to an Autumn Festival on Wellesley Island with my boys and my husband’s BFF, A., and his daughter. I needed comfort, color, and movability for festivaling in the cool autumn wind with three little people in tow. So jeans, boots, sweater, and a scarf were an obvious combination. I had this colorful striped Chaps crewneck sweater that I snagged at 90% off from Kohl’s a while back that I have been itching to wear. Dark wash skinny jeans and flat ankle boots were practical, comfortable, and on trend. I finished the look with my favorite Tree of Life necklace by Denise Smith and a heavy knit winter white scarf. Topped with my puffer vest…I went from feeling kind of puffy to feeling kind of awesome.

How do you style your puffer vest? And have you grabbed a new one from the Old Navy great fall haul? Do you feel puffy or awesome when you wear a puffer vest?

Keeping it on the edge (and sort of puffy),
