Androgynous Chic and White Jeans

I recently obtained my first pair of white jeans. And I went for the skinny ones! It took me until I was in my 40’s to have the confidence to even try white jeans and I do admit that I was a little nervous wearing them, especially dealing with two young boys all day! But my white jeans and I both made it through the day in tact (although the boys were in day care for 4 hours of the day, so maybe that’s cheating!). I found these NYDJ white skinny jeans on the clearance rack at Burlington Coat Factory. I was not familiar with this brand, but was curious about it when they retailed for $108 (I paid $18). Their biggest claim is the “original slimming fit” and let me tell you, moms and midlife ladies, these jeans definitely hold in my child-bearing 40+ year old midsection. And they boost my very flat butt. And they are super stretchy without bagging. And, most importantly, they are incredibly comfortable! So, I am gaining more and more confidence every time I wear my white skinny jeans!

Lately, I have been loving the look of chambray with white denim, but my chambray shirt is not as fitted as I wanted with the white skinny jeans, so I opted for a pale blue tuxedo shirt that had a little stretch…and immediately I had an androgynous look on my hands. So I embraced the androgyny and styled my new short hair in a slicked back sort of do. I layered a solid white tank under the shirt so I could leave all but one of the buttons undone. Finally, I accessorized the look with cognac lace up wedge sandals, cognac belt and two strands of chunky beads in brown and cream tones…the shorter strand inside my shirt collar and the longer strand outside.
